New Acquisitions For August

Picked up a MINT "used" S&W 642 yesterday. I removed the lock mechanism this morning (took about 5 minutes, tops) and put about 125 rounds downrange a couple hours ago. So far I'm really liking this gun. Shot and compared it with my fathers LCR in .38. The LCR's grip is more padded in the web o your hand than the 642 and the trigger seems just a tiny bit lighter. Personally, I prefer to looks of the 642 and didn't see the grip or trigger really being a deal breaker with a DA pocket revolver. I'll shoot this gun enough to be proficient with it, but it's definitely not a range gun. I can deal with a little palm sting when shooting +P...

I have been thinking about a Mateba..... Damn, that post may have sealed the deal.

Satrt "thinking" about spending 4k+ then, too. [wink] The value on these guns has skyrocketed in the past 3 years or so. I bought mine right when I saw the chance and have no regrets. Not a gun that should be shot though (here we go again), as they're near impossible to find ANY parts for, and almost no gun smith wants to touch one. I had a small part break on mine, and had to have the part made from scratch to have it fixed. I've brought it to a couple of shoots just for the sheer "WTF is that?" reaction it solicits. One of the prize jewels of my collection.

I remember seeingpictures of it at a shoot a while ago and wondering WTF is thaT?! [wink]

Picked up my Crossbreed Supertuck from the post office today. Wore it for a couple hours carrying my full size M&P 9mm. I am very impressed with it so far, very comfortable and seems to conceal the full size gun quite well. Just needs a few tweaks to carry location and maybe adjusting the clips, but overall very nice.

Also wasn't planning to buy one just yet, but my work PC seems to be on it's last legs; so I picked up an HP dv6 laptop tonight. Friggin' sweet!

Picked up an M&P9 range kit tonight from a member. Excited to get it out to the range.

Even though I already own this gun, I feel like it's a "new acquisition" all over again.

I put an Apex competition trigger kit and the Apex RAM in this gun tonight and I'm extremely happy with it. The trigger pull is super light with a clean break and solid reset now. It still has about the same amount of take up, but with how light the trigger is, I don't mind one bit. The trigger break is very predictable, has nearly no over-travel and the reset is short and lets you know it's there with a loud click. Even with the heavy mass trigger, I found this gun to be very accurate and I really didn't mind the trigger, but I'm looking to get into uspsa/idpa/steel challenge type shooting and was willing to sink some money into this gun to be used for that. I can't wait to get it back out to the range!

Tinkering with guns is fun!

Well it's nothing to write home about but I figured I'd throw it on here. Pack made by Bug Out Gear that I bought at a yard sale this weekend for $5. The owner said he had humped with it a few times in the sandbox but that's all I got out of him. It's used but in excellent shape. Tons of little pockets, zippered compartments, straps etc... I looked online and MSRP for this pack is around $80 - $100. Score!
