Rent a lane at a busy time. That should give you some first hand experience on the cheap.

I am a member and go just about every week. Tuesday Night is ladies night and the lane time is free for ladies. Nice staff. I stick to the Pistol room with my wife and another couple it is usually pretty quiet in there.
