Those are a couple nice rifles Robxd and konajoe! I think my next saiga conversion is going to be along those lines of a tactical ak!

I loved the ak74 in 5.45 but my goal for 2012 was to consolidate all shtf/carry firearms into a minimal number of catagories ( .38spcl 9mm pistol and .223 for rifle ) That little Norinco fit the bill perfectly and complements the AR's it sits well nicely

Mass-diver that thing is sweet reps inbound! I'd love to have a preban under folder myself but can't spend that kind of money just cuz I live in commie heaven!!!
My AK-47, thinking of getting this safety. Anyone have any experience with it? It holds the bolt open and is supposedly easier to reach one handed.

I still have the ordinal hardware. But, really your post is spot on, if I could have bought a new AK with the features I want, I would have left this old girl alone
But for me, a red dot, a flash suppressor, and a flashlight are musts on a defensive carbine. However, I hope this softens the blow - it's not a legend, it's a AKS - much. much less rare and not as nice.

Yeah, the 308 is like half the work. I think I had mine done in a little more then an hour and a half. It is a fun rifle, just wish I could afford to feed it more often.
That depends on how far hes willing to go. I still haven't removed/reworked my front sight block for threading the muzzle.

Bingo! I'm going to install a rsa trigger and do some kind of furniture swap but I really want to put a brake on it down the road. I just want something fun to shoot that looks a little bit unique

If you're going to do a handguard swap make sure you go with the handguard retainer Dinzag sells. Its pricey but is specifically made to fit the larger diameter barrel of the Saiga 308. Same goes for the gas tube and handguards. Because of the size difference you have to Dremel out some material from standard K-Var lower handguards to get them to fit.

I have a factory 8 rounder and two 10 round surefires... They sell 25 rounders if you leave this Hell hole
