AK

Missing are two Yugos, sorry to lazy to drag them out, also sorry for the picture quality.

Three Arsenal milled receiver rifles I bought way back when, my cost $375, Two converted saigas, one 12 gauge and one 545, one Romy 7,62x39, one polish milled receiver , a polish tantal, a polish folding stock and a Yugo folding stocks and a PSL. (11 shown plus 2 not shown.) The only bummer of this enter group is all the folding stocks are welded in place. But what the heck they are pretty. Maybe tomorrow I will post the Yugos , They are my favorite. Built like a tank.

p.s. I was going to post my VZ but its really not an AK

Russian Izhevsk built Type III parts kit that was previously mauled by a guy that put it on a NDS-1 in Tennessee. Some of the parts were strangely force matched on the kit, but the old serial numbers already matched. The original receiver stubs (ruined by the NDS rivet hole drilling) had the Star Of David proof marks on it- it was an Israeli captured rifle- probably from a arms shipment in the Mediterranean which back in the 50's, they were good at commandeering. Who knows. But there is proof that it was in Israeli service, Russian service, and the wood shows it.

The donor receiver stubs are from another Izhevsk type III, same year from the serial number (1958). Since only the carrier, bolt, and old receiver matched, I figured mixing them wasn't that bad of an option, and most of these rifles don't match anyways. [STRIKE=mistake]The donor receiver has an odd proof on it that is either Iranian or Iraqi... I forget[/STRIKE] it's actually another Hebrew marking, so the donor receiver has also been through Israel... crazy! Rewelded by a guy on the west coast. I'll be thinking up refinishing options- I think I will try my hand at matching the original patina on the barrel with cold blue. Anyone with good suggestions PM them away to me. If that doesn't work, Sergei of rustbluing is going to hold a Izhevsk AK47 once again.

Anyways, here's the picture of my currently prized "peasant rifle." Still needs a sling- anyone know of any 1950's canvas early AK47 slings- you know who to PM [wink] I will be sure to reward you handsomely.

forgive me, Boris, for I didn't do any of this work myself besides sourcing the Russian parts. The price to obtain these parts made it an extremely violent gamble that would have made me angry and broke.

Not yet, but the action is extremely smooth. I will give a range report when I do. It should shoot nice since the bore on this rifle is immaculate- it looks as good as the virgin combloc AKM barrels that I have.

I'll check the dates on my slings tonight. I know I have some old ones.

Rifle looks great, can't wait to see it in person at a shoot one of these days.

I saw this prize in person when flintoid was picking it up. Its actually cooler in person, if you can believe it. The rifle looks all original, except for the finish on the receiver. Really nice score.

So I've spent half of the new year already wrapping up my Saiga 12 build:
-Mississippi Auto Arms conversion kit with tromix parts
-ATI AK 47 Maadi Stock
-UTG quad rail
-UTG folding foregrip
-Sight Mark "el cheapo" red dot
-Red Jacket extended charging handle
-extended mag release

Took a total of maybe 8 hours to do being my first saiga build since I didn't necessarily have the proper tools or experience at times, but it came out great and I'm more than happy with it. The combination of the ATI stock and the cowitness built in iron sights and optics seems to feel pretty good, may try to find a way to heighten the cheek piece if I can.
The stock took some work to get on. I didn't know that the S-12 didn't have the proper grip attachment slot that the rifles have, but i certainly didn't want to mill out the receiver. So I drilled the top rear screw using the original russian screws then went into the receiver and used the rectangular slot that I think was for the original trigger and used an original stock screw and a washer to get the job done. Seems solid and I didn't have to alter the receiver in any way. If you decide to get the conversion kit separate from stock, be careful that you get the right trigger guard, or it may not fit.
I'd warn anyone looking to put quadrails on that have the "sporting" sights with that is railed that you have to take them off. I though I wouldn't have to, but it turned out it definitely wouldn't work with the UTG rail, which I really like. So I knocked them off and found that there is a still a little knob from the sights in the front that still works great. It was still blasted holes into zombie targets from 25 yards away with slugs.

Saiga 762x39 16" barrel
US Palm grip
Surfire Forearm
Magpul CTR and RVG
Texas Weapon Systems rail
Aimpoint PRO
Echo Nine Three sling plate

I still need to add a muzzle brake and rear iron sight.
