This is just an offshoot of the "what's the most common gun owned on NES" thread...

and I thought it'd be interesting to see what the most common caliber ccw'd on NES was... [grin]

Even the backup is a .45 ACP. Instead of a 5-shot .38 special, I carry 5+1 .45 ACP that is no larger than a Walther PPK.

Size matters. [smile]

What's the recoil like on the small .45 Bob? I have a Para Carry 12 in .45 and that's manageble, but since the hammer snapped in half at the range, I'd never trust it as a CCW

9mm but not specifically by choice...it just so happens that my Sig P228 only came in 9mm. I've had a P229 in .40 but I just shoot the P228 better than any other pistol I've owned. It seems to balance a lot better than the P229. It's my "little buddy" and nothing else had been able to de-throne it as my daily CCW as of yet.

Steve: Mine is no longer in production, but I love it - AMT .45 Backup. I use 185 gr. Remington Golden Sabers and find it very controlable. Double taps to 21 feet are 5-8" groups. 230 gr. is much harder to control so I don't even try. I carry the 185 gr. RGSs in all my carry 45s and it just keeps it simple.

Bob

Big difference between 357SIG and 357MAG although I use both. I would not put a vote in the 38spl because I would never even think of carrying 380
Agree 100%

The 38 Special needs to be grouped with 9x19. In its premium loadings the 38 Special is every bit as powerful as the Luger cartridge.

For the record I voted 357 Sig/357 Magnum and I also agree that the 357 Sig is a far cry from the real deal. My 357 load of choice is Remington's 158 grain SJHP. If I carried an L or N frame, it would be Remington's 125 grain SJHP, but its recoil is a bit much in a K frame.
