Sportsman Guide

Now I find this thread [slap]
[[flame] on]

I ordered 2 items from them last night, a pair of Guide Gear Safe-Sound Electronic Ear Muffs and a Winchester Field Tools Screwdriver set. Today I get an email that one of my items is restricted and cannot be sent to my zip code. Calling Customer Service the rep tells me they cannot ship any gun-related items to MA due to their agreement with the AG. Now, guess which item could not be shipped...

...you got it the evil, gun-related, it's-for-the-children, we-must-protect-the-consumer-from-themselves screwdriver set!
[rofl2] [angry] [rofl2] [angry] [rofl2]

When I very hesitently asked about the ear muffs the rep said they were in stock and should be shipped tomorrow.

Now don't you feel safer with all the Herr Reilly has done?

What a [pot] of [puke].

You may now return to your regularly scheduled programming.

You should have told them to credit you for the muffs and stick the order up their collective asses.
There's still time! CANCEL and tell them why.

Much as I'd like to, I'm paying for this purchase with an Amazon gift certificate and they appear to be the only place that offers inexpensive electronic ear muffs via Amazon. Otherwise I would.

I'll tell ya whay they won't ship the screwdriver set... it says Winchester on it. They won't ship anything with a gun name Glock, SKS, K98, etc. in the item description. [rolleyes]
Once Martha Coakley gets into office, I'd like to e mail here and ask her about SG and see if theres anything she can do so we can at least get screwdriver sets, storage boxes, etc.

I tries to order a laser handgun sight to use on an airsoft gun of all things and was told it was restricted from shipping to MA. the whole situation with this company is laughable. Straight to the round file for thier cat.

I once placed a phone order with MidwayUSA for well over $200 for a bunch of reloading tools and shooting supplies. When the operator gave me my total she explained a couple of items couldn't be shipped to MA. I told her the items were not illegal to own or sell in MA. but it did no good. When she was given me my tracking number I told her to cancel everything. She was speechless. She was used to people accepting the rejection. I explained to her I couldn't do business with someone who would disregard me for such reasons and I would take my buisness elsewhere. I also told her I was a avid shooter and reloader just like her boss and planned on telling ALL my friends who reloaded and shot to be aware of their policy. Although I did not raise my voice or swear I'm sure I made my point. Since then I won't do business with any company like MidwayUSA or SG. Too many other places that are happy to take my money.[smile] [smile]

Well I went ahead and cancelled it, and told them why. The rep said she would "fill out the paper work and try to get the order cancelled". I told her that it had better get cancelled, otherwise I would be most unhappy.

Turns out I can get a similar hearing protector at Dick's for about the same price. Haven't checked on the screwdrivers. I'll use the gift certificate for something else.

Mr. Reilly cannot get out office fast enough for me. I cannot imagine Coakley being any worse.

p.s. I notice some people (Gary) appear to have few issues with Midway, and others (Armed Mainer) do. Does having a C&R FFL make the difference? Do ya think the BATF will accept my Amazon gift certificate to cover the C&R fee [grin]?

C&R is no help wrt to most places. They will either ship or not.

The AG doesn't matter either. If they signed a "consent decree" that says that they won't sell anything that has a gun mfr's name in the title/description, it is an enforceable contract in a court of law. Means that if Winchester makes toilet paper with their name on the label/description . . . can't sell it in MA. A contract does NOT have to make sense, it's a legal obligation! [rolleyes]

Now, if a new AG rescinds the "consent decrees" that would free the sellers, but that is what is required at this point. Nothing else will work!

It probably depends on what you order. I've ordered mostly tools and cleaning supplies. I did try to order ammo the first time, but their ordering software will pop up a window and tell you if there is an item that they won't ship. Armed Mainer didn't say specifically what they wouldn't ship, so I can't comment on that.

Ya Midway did not ship to me also. If I remember right I was ordering some small stuff that was stupid for them to say no to as well as "once fired shotgun hulls". They said no to everything. [frown] [frown] [frown]
