Taunton Rifle and Pistol Club

I will be heading to the outdoor range this weekend and will be shooting on one of the 50yd ranges so I will keep an eye out for it. If it's a preban 30 rounder chances are it already grew some legs but I'll keep an eye out anyways and let you know if anything pops up.

I had a fear it would grow legs. I'm gonna try and swing by there in a few and see if I can find it as well. Thanks for checking if you get there before me.

Andrew

Was at the outdoor range today with my wife on the narrow 50 and took a quick look on the wide 50 but unfortunately could not find anything. Sorry man.

I put my application in September 21st. On the 26th when my check was cashed I emailed the main webmaster link to ask if they received the application and if everything was ok, then I called the voice mail and left a message. No response. I saw the secretary's email and emailed him and said, wondering if my information came up as I work on last Sunday of the month and couldn't attend the meeting. Still no response. I thought for sure that someone would've confirmed the receipt, especially when money is involved, of my application. Then I read here that I'll just get mail.

Hi. The TRPC had the annual meeting today. Over a dozen applications were read and approved by the membership. You should receive a letter shortly to the effect that your membership has been approved and show up for orientation. You'll probably get an e-mail back with an alternate time to receive your access card and learn the range rules, as you say you can't make Sundays.

This is the first club meeting since September 2nd.
All club officers are volunteers, and there isn't any reason to believe that the webmaster would have knowledge about the status of your application.

Welcome to the club.

Someone blew up there .40 last week on the wide 50 yard. I always scout for neglected brass and I found a couple real blown out rounds. Don't think the gun could have possibly done well from the looks of the cases.

wasnt me, I was useing my .40 on the indoor range and the Nagant on the narrow 100 for a bit

You are the MAN! Thanks for letting me know! Yea, this Sunday thing stinks because I'm already covering someone at work, but as long as someone is emailing me I'll be quick about getting back to them and try my best to work to their schedule.

Ink is hopefully taking me this weekend and i will be getting the app and bringing a check.

Quick quick question say I was to get accepted in Nov. Would dues be due again in january?

I think it's pro-rated kinda thing. In other words, you're only paying for what you're using, but don't quote me 'cause I'm the new guy.

Fattman, I have only been a member since September, but they waived the remaining years fee for us in Lou of paying next years dues upon orientation. So basically we got the rest of this year free, and have already paid for next year, it was a great deal.

Same here! Just went through my orientation and from the few people I've dealt with so far I think this is going to be a great club to be a part of. I've already had some ideas to toss about and can't wait to meet more people. I didn't know everyone was going to be this cool and friendly. I'm trying to be the new guy and shut up and listen, but it's going to be tough because I'm excited.

just screwed over a buddy of mine, apparently they don't follow their own rules/regs..... don't know the other side of the story ('nor does my buddy)
but they won't be getting my money ever again....

Question for you guys...do you know if you can shoot a pistol cal carbine at the indoor range? I know it's a silly question but the website breaks it down by allowed calipers but then says only rim fire long guns are allowed.
thanks for the help, figured someone here might be able to help before I email someone directly.

They allowed if for a while, not sure why it changed. As vipprimo already said, .22lr only.

Don't know either, but I imagine some smart guy brought his carbine AR or something in there because it's a "center fire carbine" and didn't read the rules. Either that or someone tried shooting a Mosin inside and it altered the gravitational pull of the earth

It'd be nice if they allowed it again, but like you said people will push the carbine thing by shooting an ar or something in other than an approved indoor caliber and mess things up.

Literally every single week, there was centerfire rifle [.223 / .308 / ..30-'06 ] brass on the range. It wasn't just one or two people who didn't get it...most of the E-board was tired of the situation, so, unfortunately, rimfire only.

That kinda crap ticks me off. I just don't understand people like that.

The executive board, a dozen members, and a few applicants attended the monthly meeting earlier today.

* The scope of construction expanded to include expanding the clubhouse by tearing down the kitchen; kitchen being re-built in what was formerly a storage space adjacent to the West range.

* Work parties - show up and help. It is demoralizing when only six people can be bothered to help maintain the club.
* The outdoor range is a mess; DO NOT LEAVE TRASH BEHIND.

* Mackenzie Martin was recognized by the NRA for her exceptional shooting. [Sorry Mackenzie, exact match escapes memory at this time]

* In case anyone hasn't noticed, elections are this Tuesday. Vote or die.

A 22 bowling pin shoot was held after the meeting, and the pins laughed at many of the shooters.

I got my schedule approved so I get more Sundays. By the look of things we may need to have more "clean up parties"

What event was going on Sunday morning? I was on the 50yd narrow for a bit and there was some gathering going on at the 100yd wide it looked like. Was getting an error trying to access the calendar on the website.

Sorry that you missed it. The shoot will be held on 11 November 2013 - consider this an early invitation.

No optics, no national match rifles, no slings in use while shooting - otherwise, things are fairly open. Any military pattern rifle to include the Mini-14 [yes, really. Thank Bermuda]

Yeah wish I had known! I was shooting my AR on the 50 and would have brought it over.
