The 940SC is rehabilitated: 98% reliable now, she's rocking hard with an OEM trigger housing, 336 ejector and Wilson trigger, spring and connector. And man, that Wilson trigger is suh-weet!

This got me to wondering what 98% reliable really means, so here are some numbers:

Odds of not failing in a 6 round gunfight? 90.4%​

Odds of not failing in a 10 round gunfight: 83.4%
Odds of shooting a full box of 50 without failure: 37.2%​

Odds of completing a 100 round match without failure: 13.5%​

Odds of completing a 200 round match: without failure: 1.8%​

This assumes the first round has a chance of 100% since it is already chambered.

Works 100% reliably 60% of the time.

Yup, it's a range toy unless I can get it to 100% for 300-400 rounds. I follow the 200 round rule with production guns, but with 80% guns I'm setting the bar higher. 98% is successful in that the 940SC could barely shoot more than two rounds before it would double feed, misfire or stovepipe on the first range trip.

dropped a #13 main spring into a second shadow 2, keeping stock firing pin and a spring. feels ok visually.
need to get to the range now to test it all.

Swapped out the quad rail for a Sig 551 handguard. Dropped almost 2/3rds lb off the front. Much better balance now. Replaced the charging handle with a post style from Wyssen Defence. Extended safety from Kreb. Odin Works extended mag release. Slapped a random pic rail on top, until I get a proper length one, and threw a Monstrum prism scope on top.

Then headed out to the range for some crawling through the snow and field handling of the "upgrades." Scope is mounted a bit high for my preference, but otherwise, she's almost where I want her to be.

got back to iron sights finally with a decent gun.
here is new to me spare shadow2 results at 25yds with 124gr loads - left side is the gun (stable gun with hand on the rest) , right side is me standing up.
red dots made me rusty. irons rule.

Awhile back I decided to mothball my Skinner peep sight on the Henry 44 (brass) and put a red dot on there, for variety as much as anything else, as I don't have any other rifles sporting red dot sights. Had it on a Henry scope mount, but it's heavy and a high mount. I was feeling a little too cheap to order a Ranger Point Precision rail and cut it so that it would fit on the brass receiver. I convinced myself that the Weaver mounts for Marlins and Henry 30-30 rifles had the same hole pair as the Big Boy scope mounts, so I ponied up about $9 for a pair of them. Turns out I was right. I wanted the sight centered on the mount, so I cut a new slot with a bastard file (somewhat tedious). I wasn't happy about how close it needed to be to the original slot, but I'm confident there's enough material there for this application. Came out OK. It's still a little higher than it needs to be, but it's lower than before, and the Weaver mount is a lot lighter than the steel Henry mount. Plus, it looks like I can probably sight underneath it in a pinch. Will have to test that out.

BTW, awhile back I tried the Skinner mounting plate for the Leupold Deltapoint Pro on the Henry. It wasn't all that low, either, despite what you'd think, because there was the plate and then the rather thick base of the Deltapoint, and then somewhere above that the line of sight for the dot.

Fixed my buckmarks friday night. Was packing them to shoot a match in the morning and found that the y spring on one was loose.

Took the slide off the other to compare and the trigger housing broke.

Had to hunt for the bag of spare parts, but once i found it was able to put them back together.

Shot them at match and both failed miserably. Failure to go into battery, stovepipes, failure to extract

Took them apart again, shimmed the rails so that they weren’t binding the slides and took them to the range. Much more betterer.

Checked the barrel thread concentricity on one of my new uppers. Not perfect but has enough clearance. Tried 3 different cans and they all look the same.

Did a little work to my Beretta 92FS. Installed the LTT kit and trigger. Huge difference in both single and double action trigger pull. Trying to source an inox barrel to complete the transformation. Range test one of these days to make sure I didn't screw anything up. All in all, I think it turned out well.

Replaced the loading gate on my 1951 Marlin 30-30 with a Ranger Point Precision aluminum loading gate.
Soooo much easier to load and don’t need to destroy my thumb anymore

Made some progress on the l1a1 tonight.
Got the pistol grip fitted, had to enlarge the stud hole slightly. Got the gas regulator freed up. And best of all seem to be able to clean up the carry handle after all, was covered in black paint for some reason but it seems to be coming off with mineral spirits. Stoked about that!
Last step for me will be to decide what to do with the furniture. Clean up the dark to match the light or darken the light to match the dark? Thinking clean up the darker handguards.
Then off to the Smith for the flashider install.

Before and after of the charging handle, very happy about this as these are quite hard to find. Still have more to rub out on it but it's much better already!

Pulled a Rise Armament RA-140 trigger from my Aero MSR, and sent it back to Rise Armament for a replacement, under warranty. (wasn't resetting last time I took it to range)
