What is the point of the dealer classifieds.

But, what if that person becomes a dealer and posts in the regular classifieds. Is that person still a DB?

A person isn't either trustworthy or a DB just because of their status on a social forum.

It's much more dependent on how they conduct their personal and business dealings.

The only thing I hate about the current set up is FFL dealers, using a green account, to sell guns "privately" and when he sets the meet up point at his "local FFL" I'm handed a 4473 and having 6.25% added on to the purchase price because the guy didn't want to throw Derek an extra $100 a year.

So now I either just wasted 5 hours to drive into the greater Boston, gas and tolls, or have to spend an extra $100 on sales tax because this chucklef*** wanted to misrepresent themselves and save $100.
Sounds like a due diligence failure. Most of this is because people won't talk to each other on the phone before closing a deal and they are fags and they just send like three text messages and nobody asks any questions anymore. 🤣

Years ago when somebody would be bellyaching about a bad transaction experience around here you would read into the whole thing in the reality of it is is that it usually involved a massive communication failure on both sides... because they're only doing shit like texting. I see this stuff all the time even at work where they'll be people ping pong ing emails and I just yell at the screen "Pick up the f***ing phone and talk to each other like f***ing humans you God damn retards!!!! "

If they ever fire me for something like that I guarantee that's how it's going to happen the rant will start with that.

That doesn’t bother me, most of the dealers are good people and I wouldn’t have a lot of the fun stuff we have without them. Either way I know how to use the ignore button if I don’t want to see them. More guns to choose from is a good problem. It’s only another $100.

@Biff Quizler mind weighing in? I'm pretty sure I'm on the "talks too much" end of the spectrum. Also I will do my due diligence to get a video of my 140 lb nephew shooting that 300 win mag

Neg the seller on trader and move on with life

The fact remains that it's obvious that you didn't discuss terms with the seller before buying the product, otherwise you wouldn't be complaining about the experience.... you would have renegotiated or not accepted the deal.

Not worth digging up, he at least has his Instructor account now and can continue to believe he is East Coast Taran Tactical.
Of course it's worth digging up the dealer(s) who deceptively created an appearance of a FTF transfer. We're coming for you, then the dealer.

At least neg rep w/ an explanation.

@drgrant..... Damn , even as veteran of the negative rep years and reading whiny threads since 2005 I gotta defend myself[rofl] (though, don't remember much whining (some good arguing 😄) until mids 2010's. The 2020's level of pettiness shaping up to be monumental)

FWIW... I think Agnot was referring to our recent deal where we communicated tons prior to meeting, doing the deal and loitering areound talking afterwards til we feared police response. The video reference stemmed from such conversation. + feedback already left on both ends.

Then again, we both live in WMass where people still do talk to each other without eyf##king or swearing at each other. Kumbaya y'all!!!!

Did his ads at the time say anything about the tax? If they didn't - that is on him 100%.

You absolutely should not buy the item in that instance. No matter how much of a good deal, no matter how much gas was spent.

This is understandable reaction, but in that case you are making business decision based on emotions and not making the world a better place.

Instead ask for same OTD price as was posted in the ad, and suggest he gets a dealer account in the future and/or mentions taxes in the ads. If he agrees and follows through - buy and do nothing.

If he doesn't lower the price to offset the tax - buy if it still makes sense, but definitely leave the appropriate feedback and maybe start a thread. 😇

How much talking is required for a $1.5k gun?

If the ad by a green member states "transfer at my local FFL", is it normal for that member be that "local FFL" himself and charge tax? Especially since dealer sales without a dealer account were not allowed since forever?

I think it is a legitimate complaint, even if he accepted the deal after a surprise tax.

If you eat poop and don't neg the seller you are part of the problem.

All those classifieds plus the gun and shooting discussions keep mucking up this forum. Is there a way to block all posts related to guns and shooting?
Unfortunately no. I automatically block all dealers and people who come here to try and sell their overpriced crap. I just counted, I'm at 508 people on ignore.

Damn, those are pro numbers!

I will temporarily block the dealers who dump a pile of ads just to filter them out for browsing threads, but I unblock them occassionally to see if there's anything cool for sale. I have blocked a couple trolls and some of the oddballs who have zero gun related posts. Fairly short list.

I don't live in New England anymore. There have been many trolls. It makes new posts faster to read.

I didn't have an account in 2010 or thereabouts to neg the seller. I did have a bunch of dumb cash on hand and a major hard on for a Steyr in 7mm-STW, which was the rifle in question.

So in other words you found the ad here and somehow contacted the guy without an account? Such confuse.

Is it confusion though, or due diligence failure? 🤣

Whatever happened in 2010 is one thing, but there is literally an "Instructor" with ads in the classifieds right now, that has cell phone in his ads. Would it be hard to contact him without an account? Coincidentally, some of his ads say "transfers at my local FLL" instead of "transfers at my shop (as in "the shop I own")". 🤔😂

p.s.: Taxes are mentioned though, and great feedback! 👍

Said ad no longer exists. Tried finding it by looking up their posts and searching by the gun. You can go hunt to your hearts content to try to figure out who it is.

Sounds like you found another cheapskate though, if they don't have their dealer account.
