What Lever Straight Wall Caliber?

Anybody make a lever in 350 legend ?

It doesn’t have a rim, so it won’t be in a tube fed lever gun.

Browning used to make a .223 BLR, but they stopped making the micro-action versions before 350 Legend was a thing.

Henry makes the Long Ranger in .223, so theoretically they could come out with a 350 legend version using a new barrel and bolt. Wouldn’t hurt to ask them if they intend to come out with one.

Or if you dare to go semi auto in an AR setup, 450 bushmaster. It's cheaper than 45/70 too
I had a 45/70 it was huge
I looked hard at it before I divested my AR’s. I’m just not an AR guy.
.360 Buckhammer was designed to meet your criteria. It's legal to hunt deer with it in Michigan (.45-70 is not) and is reasonable for black bear at moderate distances. The downside is that ammo is not easy to find and is only slightly less expensive than .45-70.
Yes, the load data says that is a great round and a perfect choice.
Do you handload or relying on factory ammo ? Important question that should be considered in your caliber choice .
Nope. I don’t really need another “hobby”.
45/70 lever is going to kick the $hit out of your shoulder so if your a tough guy than go for it , but be forewarned.

Yes, that is the reason I shied away from it. With my back issues I don’t need the shoulder pounding. I would have to set up a single stage press and download the round to enjoy it at the range. I’m trying to avoid it another hobby but we will see.

Thanks to all for the input. It is appreciated.

Bob

Who not? The 35 Remington is rimless and feeds from a tube.

Show me any in stock.

Yes, it is possible. There’s also a company that makes 10mm tube fed lever gun.

But they’re rare. Whether it is because rimless lever guns are more difficult/expensive to make, or if the companies are risk averse and don’t want people loading modern point bullets in those rimless cartridges in their tubes. I don’t know. But there are VERY few rimless tube fed lever actions.

I’m leaning towards companies not wanting to assume the risk that some dumbass is going to load non-tipped bullets in it.

I have no idea, your post just sounded like rimless in tubes wasn't a thing, My bad for misunderstanding.

Since you don't reload and are not likely to hunt why the need for a straight wall cartridge? Why not something like a 94 or 336 in 30-30?

For a plinked, If I weren’t going to reload and I didn’t have a bunch of money I’d go .357/38. Probably 44 mag if I were going to hunt deer with it. But that would be more expensive for plinking.

Browning never made micro action BLRs, BLRs chambered in 223 were in the regular, short actions also chambered in 22/250, 243, 257, 308, 358.

Action length, sure. But they don’t make any in the smaller bolt faces associated with micro actions. If they still made a .223 version, it would only be a barrel swap to change to 350 legend. And probably new follower in the mag.

No .223 bolt means no 350 legend version.

I have been hunting all my life but I have bad back issues and my hunting days are winding down as it is getting hard to get around and sit still for extended periods of time. There remains a small chance that I could do a black bear hunt over bait or a deer hunt in a straight wall caliber state like Ohio.

I also have a 30-30 lever and a 30-06 in the safe. ImProbably more of a want than a need TBH.

If you didn't think there was a chance of hunting in a straight wall case state I would say a Rossi or Henry .22 Since a .22 and reloading are out I'm going to join in with the .38/.357 crowd.

I love my Marlin 450 Guide Gun! Use it for deer and bear in Maine. I reload and use 325 grain FTX bullets. Nice thing is ported which helps with recoil. It is a beast but not bad once you shoot it for awhile! That and a 336 in 35 Remington!

OP, same as the pistol you will have it paired with. Only carry one ammo type
So question is what the pistol caliber is.
Figured for me it would be 357 or 44mag. Since I have those pistols.
My first and only lever is 30-30, next would be one of those.

That’s where you am leaning but the problem is that I might have a hard time prying it out of my wife’s hands. She loves the .357 revolver so much she named it and claimed it. I never get to shoot it anymore. I might end up with the same problem with the new lever. First world problems for sure.😂
