I have a question.

How many people here feel that those people in power in Masschusetts and who are ramming through legislation to deprive us of our 2A rights are also responsible enough to pay attention to a (relatively) small number of form letters and actually change their minds about our rights?

Especially since, state-wide, we don't appear to have anywhere near enough votes to vote them out of office.
I see where you’re coming from but you are not thinking about this in the correct way. We should always make our voices heard, that’s how you keep the movement going. Your voice and views matter, express them.

I used the form letter tool to change the text. It may be sent from the same address, but at least you can make them all personalized. This does not make me think for one minute that she/her minions will have it go directly to the trash folder. I changed it to say:

As a Massachusetts resident and member of the Gun Owners of America, I am asking that you put an end to the anti-liberty bill by VETOING H 4885.

H 4885 is touted to reform Massachusetts gun laws to make us the safest state in the union. This bill does not make one modification to the current laws that will change how criminal use of firearms is handled.

H 4885 makes Massachusetts laws more un-Constitutional than ever before. It also threatens to make felons of law abiding citizens.

Can we for once punish the criminals. Not the people that are obeying the laws?

It’s good to hear that GOAL is pivoting away from lobbying and toward litigation and I hope this makes a difference.
They couldn’t do any worse at lobbying so litigation is likely the only direction they could go. Why would anyone on Beacon Hill listen to GOAL anyhow when Wallace very immaturely insults them publicly whenever he can?

Please explain how our voices and views on this topic matter to the Governor.
Our voices and views always matter. We are Americans and it’s our right to speak openly and against our government. Honestly it sounds like you just want to argue with someone. Might be the reason why your husband left you.

You live in fantasyland.

Clearly.

I don't expect you to have a good answer for why your voice matters to our governor because it simply doesn't. The fact that you have a right to vote, or the right to speak up to your elected officials doesn't guarantee that you're going to get anywhere with either action. The sooner you accept that fact the better off you'll be and the less stupid you'll sound.

But hey, keep writing strongly worded letters and signing petitions. Good luck to you.

Oh man, so close with the petition. If only we had a few more days or even hours we could have changed her mind.

Lol, this attitude is why we are at where we are today. We as a community are lazy as f*** and unwilling to do some pretty basic shit. But, you're right, it won't do anything, so f*** it, let's bitch on a forum instead.

During the Obama years when everyone was panic buying, a few things stuck out to me... 1. most MA gun owners that were buying AR's didn't know what GOAL was, forget about nationwide 2a orgs; 2. Most didn't vote "because it doesn't do anything". I remember attending a rally in Boston around this time, there were about 30 of us, asking people later that day where they were... "we had to work".

Our wake up call was a long time ago. We're totally f***ed if we continue on this path.

Political activism would help, but the problem is the pro-2A side lacks the same kind of funding and media support that the anti-2A "community" gets. By default, the media tends to report in a way to paint gun ownership in a negative light due to who owns and controls said media, especially true in Massachusetts. Hence when arrogant politicians and their lawyers get together to write illegal bills to advance their own careers; they get the media manufacturing consent for them and these pretentious NGO's that pretend they are trying to make the country "safer", when all they are doing is assisting the politicians and their enforcers in getting heavier boots to stomp on people's faces with.

The correct "path" now is through the courts. GOAL, as a lobbying organization, is useless now as there are too few pro-2A legislators left in MA to lobby. :(

GOAL can rise and become relevant again, but it would have to be as a litigation organization with direct ties to the national 2A litigation big boys. 🤔

how about someone runs for any office, not expecting to win, but just to be a straw (wo)man to get some media attention and explain some basic facts. Or is that just too naive?

Nothing new about the defeatists. They aren't a factor. We leave them and move on. They'll show back up cheering if there's a victory, and bitch us out for if we lose.

Give it a shot. What’s your name? I’ll support you.

The problem with these things is that if she only gets a few thousand she will be emboldened as she will look at it as nobody really cares.
And lets be honest. From the progressive democrats standpoint basically nobody really cares in this state. Every single one of us could vote republican and it would accomplish nothing. I will never forget the time I actually spent quality face to face time with my representative discussing the 2014 bill (our kids were "besties") and she told me that she appreciated my concern however in her position she had to follow the direction set by her leadership or her political career was dead.

After reading the Globe article this weekend I realize that it was not her "political career" that woud be dead but her access to Speaker allocated payroll increases for "leadership activities". What a state we live in.

Do you ever notice how the income tax rate in Fantasyland is exactly the same as the income tax rate in Massachusetts? Strange coincidence, right?

As MA gun owners, we are where we are today because the official state religion (the Democrat Party) has decided that one of its tenets is the abolition of private gun ownership. There no petition we could ever sign to fix that, no rally big enough to dissuade the elected officials from voting for it, and no level of organization that we - a minority group here - could muster that would change that. Believe whatever you want and blame MA gun owners if you must, but that's the reality.
