I know there's already the thread about the shooting, but holy hell....

It cannot be emphasized enough, however, exactly what the AR-15 is: It is a weapon of war. It was made to blow humans apart. It is successful in doing just that. The requests for DNA tests in Uvalde stand as a testament to the gun’s success, but the conclusion that the weapon excelled at blowing people apart was well documented by the U.S. military itself during early field tests.

During the Vietnam War, the U.S. conducted a survey into the impact of the AR-15 and its use on the battlefield. To put it bluntly, the survey found that the weapon, chambered with same .223 caliber rounds that Ramos used in Uvalde, was exceedingly good at killing human beings.

I wonder how the writer would react if told this:

...would cause the same kind of effects.

My problem with antis isn't so much their point of view, even though they're egregiously wrong. My problem is their ignorance and their steadfast refusal to remedy that ignorance. They're proud of themselves for knowing nothing about how firearms function, and if you tell them that the same ammo can be fired out of multiple firearms, they'll glaze over.

Yeaaaah but you can't bump stock that and add a ultra high capacity banana clip and kill 60 people in under 2 seconds with it.

But see, that's my point.

The article is not about a gun. It's about ammo and its effects. The writer fails to understand the distinction, and he's not interested in learning about it.

If a varmint round like the .223 is so good at killing people, how come the military is looking for something bigger? How come they rebuilt M14s and put them back in service?

A Jedi once said the second amendment means muskets.

The main advantage of the British Army was that the infantry soldier trained at this procedure almost every day. A properly trained group of regular infantry soldiers was able to load and fire four rounds per minute. A crack infantry company could load and fire five rounds in a minute. ~Wiki
