Couldn't find anything on AFT's rules on maximum length of an AR pistol build.

If you don't install any vertical fore grips [just a hand stop], a pistol build with an SBA3 and a 14.5 unpinned upper is still a 'pistol', not a 'firearm', right? No tax stamp.

Why not post the question to the 'ask aft' web site?? 🤪 🤪 🤪

Seriously though, AFAIK, as long as you don't have a vertical grip, and the barrel is under 16", you'll have a pistol. I've got the AFG's on mine at this point. I might shift over to hand stops where possible on some of the uppers. I might even add them to my 16" (and above) builds.

I thought I saw someone producing ball sacks that can be attached to hand guards. Those aren't vertical, so you could just go there and cup them when shooting. [rofl2]

Why only when shooting?

that is coming to the next machine gun shoot no doubt.
Only half mag dumps allowed. That's plenty of time for the guys to finish up. 😂
Says the guy with a gmc badge for an avatar 🤣
Pay no attention to my avatar
420HP in the 6.2L v8... 10 speed transmission helps too. Cruising down the highway at ~80 and turning under 1500 rpm. :D So many things I love with the Denali trim level. :D

I'm not a gm guy but (to which everyone has opinions) but i will say the seats are amazing.

Hell yeah... Also love how my truck will either heat, or cool, the seats and cab when I do the remote start. Doesn't matter what I had the climate control set to the last use either. Let it run for a couple of minutes and the seat and steering wheel are getting nice and warm for me. :D

I USED to have a ford truck. Then I got a [2015] Silverado. Had two more of those (2019 then 2020) before they did the mid generation refresh and changed the interiors. Very nice. IME/IMO, the GMC trucks have better fit and finish inside than the Chevy trucks. At least in the trim levels I've had. I've had the LT, then LTZ in the Chevy. Only the Denali for the GMC.

How would you exceed that length of pull with a standard SBA3 or 5 brace?
Shrug... I dunno, you asked, I answered. You didn't specify using a standard carbine buffer tube.
Who knows what all stuff people are going to use on an AR build, I don't keep track of all the new stuff that's always coming out, never mind what's being one off fabricated or 3d printed.
For instance I'm pretty sure at full extension an A5 buffer tube would do it and almost certainly a folding stock adaptor.
I suppose you could pin the stock in a forward position...

It can definately be exceeded with a 5 brace or SBA3 and a carbine buffer tube which makes SBR the thing to do probably if you want a moveable stock.

If I finish mine I will likely SBR it because I will want the can anyway and will have to do that too.

Nowhere near 13.5 on a carbine tube. Just don't run it on an A5

Is that the length of the tube and brace, or the length of pull?
From their company's product page - "The SBA5 has 5 positions of adjustment, a stiffer brace, and QD sling cups on both sides. With a standard mil-spec buffer tube the SBA5 is adjustable between 7.5 to 10.25-inches in length of pull." I see what you mean. They didn't specify if it was measured from the trigger but I guess we'll see once I actually get my pistol lower in. I thought LOP was implied from trigger.

From what I've seen, a fully extended sba3 on a standard carbine tube and a mil spec trigger is around 12.5" lop measured straight back.

Regular carbine Magpul MOE goes out to 14.5 LOP.....LOP is from back of stock to trigger face.

SBA3 is not figuring in to the trigger. Can't be.......but I'm sure its shorter than a Magpul MOE.

Like the kid who keeps changing the rules on the playground, AFT says if you 'occasionally' touch your shoulder with the SBA3, it's fine. For now.

That ~12.5" was measured trigger face straight to rear of the brace.
