Dealing with the gen z.......I swear some days I just want to say f*** it and head to the woods and be a hermit.

Lot of these are older than boomers, like my parents and grandparents.....who are and were older than boomers. Meat at every meal, big breakfasts, bread, and overcooking shit like meat and vegetables and cleaning your plate. It took me a while to realize that shit isn't gonna work for my metabolism.....though I would never over cook meat and veggies like my mother and grandmother did. But I certainly grew up with it, and realized they cook retarded once I started cooking for myself.

Meat at every meal......meat is every meal....protein is what you need to eat to maintain your weight. Meat, Fish, Eggs. No carbs, fills you up, no carbs or sugar. Dont listen to the anti meat agenda.

They never ate out though and certainly didn't see the rise of shit chain restaurants...that is Boomer to a T.......the people I know who eat out most are Boomers and Millenials.

We are gen X, cook at home, like our steaks medium rare, and don't eat breakfast unless its on the weekend....and if we do its big and we don't eat the rest of the day.
Carbs and sugar are the enemy and you have to minimize them. We might eat out twice a month and almost never is it at somewhere expensive, but its not a chain, it will be a local place, that has good quality.

The one exception would be Texas Roadhouse where we will get a nice 12 ounce NY strip steak med rare, salad and vegetables. No potato and try and not to eat any rolls....water to drink and walk out of there for 60 bucks with tip.

I have no idea when this all this super sizing drinks and sugar filled coffees came in, it wasn't with the boomers but I think they like it, I think the Millenials embraced that shit and brought it to the forefront and I dont know a generation that doesn't do Starbucks and pay retarded prices for coffee. My kids especially.....morons.

I don't drink soda or coffee......and find these DD people and Starbucks people wasting their time and their money at the Coffee drive thru silly.....but that has to be the biggest popular thing I see nowadays....everyone stopping for coffee....nuts to me.

To that I say!

I couldn't find a Boomer thread, and I know NES loves their Boomers so I saw this and figured it would NES might get a kick out of it

Here are some of the worst eating habits Boomers often possess, but which can be hard for other generations to digest.
The last time I ate out (actually went in and sat down) was October when I went to the Denny's across the street from a motel. I barely even go to fast food places now and that was something I did often in my teens and early 20s. I don't care to pay to have other people make my food, I'd rather make it myself, even if it's a frozen dinner or something canned.

Which is something I do a few times a week because I'm wiped at the end of the workday. Even on weekends when I got time and energy to cook and clean, I still opt for canned vegetables because it's cheaper than fresh and I don't have space in the freezer for frozen. Also, canned goods are a prepper's staple, they're basically like currency in a national emergency.

I never did understand the breakfast thing, yeah I'd have a bowl or two of cereal before going to school as a kid, but since those days are over I don't bother with breakfast except on the weekends. It is the least important meal of the day and probably just something fatties use as an excuse to have bacon, eggs, sausage, and waffles/pancakes. If you really like that, make that dinner.

The anti-meat propaganda is bullshit. Sure, people centuries ago lived off grains, potatoes, beans, and vegetables because meat wasn't easy to prevent spoilage without, shocker, salt and/or canning. Modern society can support protein heavy diets and should.

Dumb people can’t hunt. So veggies/grain win.

Can't.......HR won't let you I bet. My buddy went thru this constantly.

He almost ended up getting fired because he wasn't either being PC enough about it to the HR person or wasn't "understanding enough about that person's situation.

Half of these HR managers are all about this enabling shit.
Most HR people are women. That explains tons.

Anyone that thinks that way is a f*cking loser and probably stuck in some 70s corporate way of thinking.
As a leader you want to hire people that will help you achieve your team's goals.

I hire the best people I can find, I never once thought one of them would take my job. It doesn't work that way.

It is my job to develop my team and highlight future leaders, and I do a damn good job at that. Everyone in my team interviewing for a promotion will make it to the final interview, I am very confident of that.
The training class i took on generation gap in the workforce stater that boomers are information and experience horders at work.....they are generally worried about "getting the axe" and won't train others because they feel if they do they'll be replaced. I find this quite accurate. My mother is like that......even outright used to say it...."that place is gonna be a circus when I'm gone.....and im not training some new kid so they can fire me for cheaper labor". 😂

Fortunately therr seems to be a shift in management expectations. The ceo where I'm at told me in my last review that if a department runs well when the dept manager is on vacation.....doesn't mean the manager doesn't do anyhing....it means the manager has a well trained team.

Exactly. Means you are a good leader. I can walk away at quarter end and my team will do a good job. In fact, I do that once every year, I go to Aruba on quarter end (I dont book it and get a free room, so I can't reject it). My team crushes it.

But the team still needs me. If I am gone for 2 or 3 months it will definitely show. People get lazy and need guidance. And there are 50 other things I do that dont include me being on top of my team.

I feel bad for all those managers constantly stressed out thinking some kid will take their job so they hire sh*tty people, which in turn makes their job harder and the kid probably doesn't deliver on the job, which is probably the real reason why that manager will get replaced. It is like they do it to themselves.

This is pretty true about Boomers......certainly not the best in the training their jobs department....and the information and experience hoarders is correct. Yet they expect you to know everything as well....because....they do, and tend to treat you like crap because of it if you don't. Yet at the same time....try and keep all the information from you....

Back then when i was coming up...we just dealt with it and learned on our own because we needed our jobs....and expect later generations would do the same.

But Boomer/Millenial interactions didn't go that way....Millenials get all butthurt and cry foul to HR...and when they had a massive employment advantage after covid...HR had to listen to them.

As far as firing managers who make more money..it happens...for sure.

But I think the people at the top want things to run smoothly so they don't hear about it and have to deal with it. That means if your department is running good...they aren't going to replace you with someone younger who is going to fxck it up.

They are going to keep you on for the luxury of not having to deal with bullshit seeping uphill.

I found its not a desire to hoard the knowledge.

Its just a different approach to time in the workspace.

When those older guys got on a job they were going to be there a while and training could be 5 years in some places.

I walk in and someone goes in 5 years you'll know what you need to know.

I'm like in 5 years i wont be working here now can we condense this.

I'd love to be carb and sugar free. Unfortunately, doctor's orders are at least 30 grams of fiber a day. I certainly won't fit in 8 cups of broccoli a day to get that. Most of the foods with a lot of fiber are equally high in carbs.

As for buying coffee out, I'm with you. Even at Cumbie's prices, it's too much money to spend each time since it quickly adds up.

Good luck.

Older people than boomers are about to die off in droves.

Most Baby boomers are starting to die off and retiring if they can. Lot of them are retired and well off if they planned.

Gen X a lot lower population is not working those menial jobs or they are retiring early cause they never overspent and planned and not working to just pay the Govt to have toys. . They are hitting the work life balance stride they planned for.

Your stuck with Millennials and Gen Z and some of them are heavily financed and assisted by Boomers and Gen X parents who coddle their work life fantasy

As stated previously i am gen x.......52 years old.......I have a loft goal of retiring at 58.5......that's when my army (national guard) pension kicks in. Paid off the house years ago and use the va for my medical. It's a lofty goal.......but it's doable if my wife works till she's 65. I've discussed the plan with her to see how she feels about me retiring "early" and she's 100 percent on board. I've worked my ass off my whole life and technically had a second job till is was 47 years old to get ahead. Well have about 1.5 mil in the 401ks when I'm 58.5......not a retirement where well be traveling the word but enough to hunt and fish and not feel the need to keep working to pump more into the 401k past 58.5.

My son (gen z) thankfully gonna be the same way.......23 and owns his house......married......driving a 10 year old truck (i helped him with that yes but he's gonna run it till it disintegrates so he can save money). He's on his own 100 percent since he graduated college we give him nothing for financial support now.

But I do agree with the generalized assessment of the Gen z and millenials boomers and xers.......there are anomalies that exist though.
