Is bringing your own steel now allowed? The 100 yard bridge is rotting away. I'd be willing to donate tools and labor to fix it. It should be eliminated and the ground filled in, but the conservation people probably wouldn't be happy.

If some retard shoots down the steel, ill use my own regardless, or at least hang it back up with my own chains.
though i usually only shoot at a range if its unoccupied, have had too many people annoy and hassle me over the years.
usually its boomers, younger shooters, and younger people in general dont seem to chat or confront people that much, though i still prefer to use a range alone.

Gerry, would you like to tackle some of that sunday morning? I can pick up some lumber and bring it over, maybe round up a few volunteers? Who's in to help with a little screwing party. The planks look fine but I looked yesterday, the bridge needs love! Lots of it. Any takers for Sunday?

I can’t help this Sunday, but would be available next Sunday Dec 8 for some bridge work.

For bringing your own steel, this would definitely fix the idiot issue. I don’t think I’ve been able to shoot steel at the 100 in over a year.

I used to belong to a range in Maryland (with full time RSOs) that would allow your own steel. That range also sold plates and mounting brackets at a small markup to help raise funds. Basically, they have rail road ties with 2x4 mounting brackets buried in the dirt. Each shooter would bring a steel plate, attached to a bracket and 2x4 when they went there. They require a short online class to certify steel shooting safety, and a sticker gets put on the badge. The shooter is in charge of all maintenance for the spalling on the 2x4, mounting bracket, etc. Everything was based on the honor system, but if someone tried to shoot at a pock marked plate, they would lose privileges.

I would guess there is some hesitation to allow people to bring their own plates (liability?), but if any HSC admins are interested in this system and follow this thread feel free to PM me. Would be more than happy to donate time or funds to get the system set up.

A reminder about eye protection shouldn't hurt feelings but YMMV I suppose.
It depends a great deal on the delivery.

"Excuse me, sorry to be that guy, but eye protection is required."

Or:

"The next time you take off your glasses I'm going to throw you off the range!!!"

I wasn't there so I don't know how it was delivered.

I was the subject of something similar to the later at a different club.

These biathalon people need to f***ing go. Every single weekend day even if it wasn't reserved they are here at the 65. They literally camp in their rooftop tent in the f***ing range. This is horseshit. Same 2 a**h***s every time.

They are an organized event.. at least, on Sundays.

If recommend against taking anyone to take a hike. Not very sportsmanlike
Yeah I'm not going down that road - just bitching here. It really is bullshit though. They have a monopoly every weekend (even when not reserved) and there's well over 1000 members at the club and one 65yd action range. No one even has a shot at using it since they are f***ing sleeping there. That's such bullshit.
