The vast majority of these 2A cases are civil lawsuits, not criminal. There’s no right to a speedy trial in a civil case.

These aren't criminal trials.
And the right to a speedy trial refers to the actual trial, not to its appeals. SCOTUS is a court of appeal, mostly. Its original jurisdiction does not extend to overruling state laws in the first instance.

Well, but then why spend any time at all cutting and pasting the Sixth Amendment? It doesn't apply here.

Here's a thought: given the amount of research needed for most civil cases, and the need to make sure the appeals process happens fairly, just maybe the 2-3 years it takes to get these cases adjudicated IS "speedy." Especially once you take into account that many, if not most, trial delays are mutually agreed upon by both sides. The right to a speedy criminal trial can be waived, and often is; same principle applies in civil cases.

I didn’t miss it. You are just uninformed. You can still have trials in civil lawsuits. The point is that it doesn’t matter what the intent is, the wheels of justice turn as slowly as the anti-gunners want them to turn.

Bruen took about 4 years to get to SCOTUS, just to put it into perspective. That is extremely fast, and it was decided solely on a motion to dismiss.
