I'm not trying to scare anyone.

In my ad I state that it is not the law and only one person has been charged with the violation.

Some people really want Pre Healey lowers and that is who I'm selling to.
Don't play the nice guy now. Everything you post regarding lowers is directed at misinforming new people.

I don't care about people posting an item for sale at a price and letting it be. But it does bother me when people spread misinformation on purpose. Like you do. It got to a point that multiple people call you out.

By the way, if I remember correctly, there was a lot more to that case you posted in your classified. But f*ck details, no one needs those. Right?

State senator Peter Durant appeared yesterday at the membership meeting for Hardwick Rod & Gun.

He was trying his best I think not to be all doom and gloom by holding out a hope that the bill might get bogged down in committee past the July end of session. I think that is a pipe dream, and he did acknowledge that they do not even know who will be on the committee yet, beyond the makeup including two Republicans. He was directly asked if one of the committee members might be Rep. Day and he said that there is a high likelihood.

He was generous with taking open questions from the floor. I asked him about funding for all of this, or more pointedly the lack of funding, and he said both the House and Senate leadership purposely avoided going through a ways-and-means committee.

I also asked him about the attempt to codify in law Healey's 2016 press conference through Amendment 11.1 and to his credit he was immediately familiar with the amendment and went on to explain it to the rest of the folks in the packed meeting room (our February meeting is always crowded as folks are renewing memberships).

I appreciated him being there even if he was not the bearer of any new ideas. He just won Ann Gobi's vacated seat in a special election and will have to defend it this fall.

Please give reptile a break he is not asking what people are buying for Maura, he’s asking to find out what is in demand so that he to can go and purchase those items and then mark them up 500% when posting them in the classifieds 😁

What is his understanding of the pre-healey nonsense?

I think some people are getting very nervous that the "investment" they made will soon be UN-sellable in MA once this bill passes. And then they are stuck selling it to a free stater who will only pay regular market value.

What seemed to be a solid investment could soon become a financial loss. :(

So people bought AR and AK as investments in MA?

At least he showed up an answered questions. Day on that Committee was a given.

My information is no different from what the gun law experts say in their classes.

That’s where I get my knowledge.

NES member EC wrote a FAQ on Healey and so did GOAL.

You can choose whoever’s advice you want to follow.

What is his understanding of the pre-healey nonsense?

I don't want to speak for the man, but my take away was that he believed that the rewrite (11.1>11) was a deliberate attempt to codify the Healey press release.

I told him (the whole room in fact) that I hope they do include it and in fact I said make this bill the biggest shit sandwich possible so the sooner we can get it in the courts.

There's a lot of back and forth on Reptiles pricing and practices of sales items. Barnum said it best that there's a sucker born everyday. There's another saying that something is only as valuable as somebody is willing to pay and finally, everything that is rare is valuable.

On the first part about suckers and practices. Cold and crude as I may sound (I am not), if somebody has left themselves wide open to be taken advantage of without the due diligence wether through reading reviews of a particular firearms performance or simply asking in places like NES or other web based sites, particularly in today's ease of access, for value, price, performance than shame on them but I'm personally in no position to place that on Reptile and neither is anybody else but themselves. If anything, I wish he would get rid of those billboard tags he's got happening.

On the value twins. I also can't blame him for seeing an opportunity when others missed the boat plus the fact that it was only an edict and not a law, not willing to run the risk of the states ire of a possible court case most FFL's made those items a rarity which increases value. I don't blame them as the state has a bottomless well of cash from yours, my pocket but none the less, they are a rarity for most of the far flung communities who's trip to the mill would require a couple meals to and from and three piss stops along the way.

I'm not defending any of this as it's not my style nor am I a member of the good old boys club here but sit back and chew on what I wrote a bit before I'm made out to be an a**h***.

I disagree.

If you list a lower that anywhere else costs $100 but you list if for $500 and someone wants to pay it, I agree with your post.

But, if you list the lower for $500 and you intentionally lie and try to scare people, that is being a d*ck.

In both cases the buyer should have done his/her research, but the gun world in MA is confusing AF. Let's not act like we were all born understanding these laws. People study these laws and still have disagreements. So taking advantage of people in this world is not too hard.

Seems you do agree as your bottom statement is the point. As I said, his practices are not my bag so I can neither justify nor chastise. It's buyer beware as in all things. As for the gun laws, as the way this/these proposal(s) or bill(s) is/are written, nobody has any chance of understanding anything, including the authors so perhaps there is a slight chance that there may be a glimmer of truth buried in the deceits. At the moment, it's a flip of the coin.

I agree people should do their research.

But I also dont think all the blame can be placed on people when the gun world is confusing AF. This is a world where even lawyers get confused.

Yep. That says it all, really.

They're not going to bother with enforcement of any of this. Anyone who ever gets jammed up on any aspect of this bill probably has a slew of other charges underlying it.

Thank you for posting!

I think some people are getting very nervous that the "investment" they made will soon be UN-sellable in MA once this bill passes. And then they are stuck selling it to a free stater who will only pay regular market value.

What seemed to be a solid investment could soon become a financial loss. :(

I can see how that might be the case, but speaking for myself as an owner of more than one item painstakingly sourced in MA, and way overpriced because of it? I'd be 100% fine with seeing those guns' value evaporate if it meant an end to the crap we have to endure.

No one wants one that bad!!! $3k…?!

Sell it for whatever you want. As @Broc said, just don’t use BS and scare tactics to sell them.

That's different. I was not referring to anything you purchased because you wanted or needed it and had to pay a premium because of MA. I have done the same.

I was referring to people that bought up lowers (and other things) at typical market value and are now trying to sell them for $3000 to people that don't know any better.

I am not a flipper. And 100% agree with you in that I would not mind one bit to see the value of my gun collection go down if it meant an end to this MA crap.

I am not trying to make fun of anyone or being sarcastic with this question ...

How are people paying a "premium" for stuff because of "MA"?

I could see that happening with a revolver, maybe. But anything else?

Pre Healy lowers were pretty cheap.

A noveski was $150ish?

Post Healy I saw up to $350

No way they appreciated 8-20x
Not sure what this "post-Healey means". Gun Broker, which doesn't care about Healey, has Noveske lowers for around $350.

Mill dealers advertise Noveske lowers for around the same price.

This is why I am wondering how people are paying more because "MassiveTwoShits"

Only if somebody is a retard.
