Both bills were the framework to ban all semiautomatic firearms, so it's just arguing over how fast their gone.

The closer to the house bill the final result come out the better chance of a fast track to SCOTUS.

SCOTUS ignores SCOTUS.

Sometimes SCOTUS does not seem to like where their decisions lead, and refuses to enforce them by denying cert to cases where people try to hold the government account for defying the ruling. I expect this willl happen in some gun cases where there are restrictions the court would like to see (like a bump stock ban) but are not supported by history and tradition.

SCOTUS recently ignored itself when it refused to hear a case regarding Asians who were the target of discrimination because they were too accomplished and thus not deserving of being evaluated solely on their merits.

They didn't ignore the direct ruling of Bruen - no more restrictions.
They don't listen to the dicta so scotus needs to come out and write that ALL state level firearms laws are null and void in 180 days unless they can pass the historical analysis test called out in Heller and make it clear that only laws on the books and enforced from founding to 1868 in a majority of states

I got an unprompted email a couple of days ago from Bruce Tarr specifically addressed to me which noted my prior outreach on the topic (last year). In the email Tarr explained the current state of the bill and encouraged me to express my opinions to the committee members and he shared all of their contact info.

They don't care, our Fate has already been decided. This is just procedural BS. This is why Healey issued the edict back in 2016, she knew this was in the works. There won't be any post 16 purchase grandfathering, and if there's any grandfathering pre or post it comes with registration. If I'm wrong I'll eat crow but Im not very optimistic.
