MA Gun Grab 2024: H.4885 - Passed legislature, headed to the governor

The new tactic now is to focus on Bruen's reference to "self defense" and the simply say, well those extra killy black rifles are not bearable arms for self defense and so not covered by the 2A.

I suspect that MA will follow this tact when defending their infringement as seen here in Delaware.

Kyle Rittenhouse would argue otherwise

According to what he said, black powder muskets aren’t protected by 2A since they aren’t used for self defense and only for target or hunting. Well there goes the antis argument about what 2 applies to.

I'm confused by a couple of things in this bill. Will we still be able to FA10 whatever? If its NOT on the roster, can we FA10 it? Whats your interpretation?

“A common cartridge 9mm travels at 1600 fps… “…

Well, at least the moron has a style- he likes his 9mm pretty spicy… like 38 super spicy…

Why do those folks talk about things they absolutely utterly don’t understand?

I would wait. No one outside the conference committee knows what the final language will be. Right now there’s different and conflicting wording in the house and senate versions.

Maybe the dude owns an AR in 9mm. Nvm. He’s an idiot.

Oh to answer your question: because their voter base doesn’t know or care either.

Well to be fair, 90gr rounds can reach that velocity out of a PCC. But they ain’t exactly common.

Nobody knows. It's been stale for a long time now and lots are engaging in a mixture of wild speculation and pant shitting hysterics.
All the democrats on Twitter are talking about now is “it’s the guns”. This will now be used to give this bill the push it needs. Watch.
Doubt.

This bill is stalled because of:

A-internal legislative politics (the house an senate pissed on each others shoes when it was introduced initially)
B-potentially exposure to judicial scrutiny (eg, Bruen etc)
C-"Nobody wants to pay for it" - it will cost millions to actually fully enact and enforce it

I'm betting some combo of all the above. This isn't a "oh we need a tragedy to pass the bill" kind of thing. They don't have a lack of votes, this is a commie state. But even commies can't do things like make money appear out of thin air they have to steal it from people and then they end up fighting over whatever they steal. Libs in mass talk big gun control but because the reality is that only a few big dump city pols are really concerned about it; the rest of them (secretly) don't want to waste the money on something that obviously doesn't work; they'll never admit it in public, but they know that it is true. Theyd rather allocate that money to pork, horse bridges bike lanes and round schools that cost too much.... or spend it on illegals.

I think you are asking the wrong crowd about that.
The "transaction" registry is a joke and needs to go away the same time as all of the other infringements.

I saw that this morning. She's taking a page out of the "never let a tragedy go to waste" book. She has been largely in the background on this issue so maybe some flack in her office suggested she say something.
I am sincerely hoping the "conference committee" ignores her and keeps on dawdling until this thing dies with the end of the session.
drgrant makes some very good points as well. Perhaps his points B & C will have an impact on whatever happens.
I am keeping my fingers crossed.

And I said it in the assassination thread. Not a word about assault weapon. They’re targeting AR 15 style rifle.

I'm surprised there isn't a line in this bill which increases the fee for an LTC to $250/$500/$750 or more. Of course, charging a fee for someone to practice a right guaranteed by the constitution would be illegal. :)

Don't give them any ideas! You know they're looking for all possible ways to pay for their illegal alien's new luxury lifestyle.

All the above are good...and believe if they do pass something it will be a paper tiger that will never get funded/understood/acted upon in any red areas of the state. Yet MA the pantshitter capital of the country will love to embrace it as a win. It will cluster fxck everything from renewing, to licensing to sales for a good long while though as everyone will not know what the fxck to do. That's the intent.

or.....

D- They won't exempt cops......if there is not an LE carve out....this will go nowhere.

Is there a new bill or any other recent action on this, or just more speculation?
One of two things is gonna happen.....

Your gonna hear crickets until it gets passed in the dead of night, and your gonna wake up in the morning with your ass sore from the night of legislators ramming it up your butt.

Or it will get pushed out and you can breathe a little sigh of communist relief for the short term.

Lest not forget you still can't own a full cap magazine, cans, and a lot of other things legally here, and MA is like #2 on the do not ship anything to list as well. Your rights are violated hard already.

Don't expect any word otherwise. Its a closed door negotiation for a reason.

I think it’s mostly C. They are strapped for cash now with the ridiculous cost of housing, food, clothing and whatever else for all the illegals. It really seems like they really didn’t realize how big the spend would be for it.

I don’t think they’re too concerned with Bruen considering how outlandish and over the top their bill is. You don’t chuck out something that retarded if you’re worried about blowback. They were ready to duke it out in court when they started rolling it out. It’s the cost of all their other f***ery that makes litigation suddenly not an appealing option.

There’s definitely some in fighting happening behind closed doors. I think the Senate is giving the house a little pp slap.
