The thing that makes this whole charade so obviously an undemocratic farce is the fact that they have to rush it through without input.

Let's assume for a moment that they honestly believe that these measures will save lives and increase public safety and all that. We know they just have a giant hard-on for banning guns at any cost, but let's pretend.

If they honestly believed that, the bills would stand on their own, and withstand all sorts of criticism and public hearings and extended debates and assaults with data. But they don't do that, because any sort of sunlight on the process would reveal how much hoplophobic virtue signaling idiocy it is.

Any argument or position that requires lies or deceit to support it is indefensible.

The number of people in this country who don’t understand this is astounding

Cynthia Creem advising not to delay the vote, saying everything has already been heard except for some of the most recent amendments. "We have listened, listened, as we always do." "I urge you to move ahead with this bill."

Bruce Tarr up now. "It is appropriate that we would use the mechanism that would normally be used for this..."

Karen Spilka just voice voted not to delay the vote for time to allow public comment.

I must have missed something, I thought I read Crackpot say earlier in this thread that it amended Chapter 140, Guess it doesn't really matter as its all a steaming pile of shit.
In this case, both are true.

It amends the House bill by replacing its text entirely. It then proceeds to amend the current laws.

The House bill proposed to replace c140 in its entirety.

Unfortunately, if you read this closely, it only exempts these from the "copies and duplicates test" not from being an Assault Weapon. If they kept the current law otherwise intact this would be the case, but they've added other tests for assault weapons to this bill that this doesn't interact well with.

These could still fail the new "Semi-automatic version of an automatic weapon test" or the "once and assault weapon always an assault weapon if it was originally manufactured as an assault weapon (i.e. no compliance work allowed)." Even amendment #69 is a grandfather that carves out only the "copies and duplicates test". It does not grandfather in all weapons before 2016 if they fail another new test.
Thank you, this is an important clarification.

They are already starting the backpatting before the vote comes through.

Holy f***. I'm going for a drink. 13 years on the wagon is enough for me.
