Moving to MA with ARs

1, 3, 2, 4.

What was this thread about again? 6 months before you try something in the something? [laugh] [shocked]

OP, I am not a lawyer but you should be good to go if you keep your stuff locked away in your home upon arrival. It needs to be locked up anyway given the MA storage laws, you just can't go play or carry until you have your LTC. MA is one of the best places in the country for density of gun clubs and number of competitions of all types and all through the year. I moved here a few years back and have fallen prey to all the bad influence in this forum [laugh]. I'm sure I've spent way more on shooting than I would have down south. Not my permanent home but I'm going to have a great time while I'm still here.
What is scary here is if he doesn't get his LTC by the grace period, I would suspect they would swoop right in and confiscate all, after all, he already told them he has guns he's bringing in, and they recommended that he do that and then get his LTC.
Remember Gardner police did that a couple years ago, they withheld a renewal till time was up and them raided the guys place.

Most likely they wouldn't have him on a list and connect the dots BUT your point is valid. I lurked on NES prior to moving here to know the drill. I complied with legal requirements while waiting for my LTC but didn't make any calls to the PD asking about what to do with my guns in the meantime.

Sure…. For now.

Fact remains all of New England is a lost cause. And a state that consecutively voted for Kamala Harris, Joe Biden, and Barack Obama isn’t the utopian place I’d be willing to uproot and move to.
You forgot Maura Healey, Elizabeth Warren, John Kerry, Barney Frank, Deval Patrick, Ted Kennedy, and all the other shitbags.

Yeah now that everyone plays COD and knows what a rifle case or range bag looks like, it's gonna be sus lugging anything with curious neighbors. In the past I've always just tried to move gun stuff after dark and rifle uppers/lowers broken down in Adidas duffels. Put a towel over your shoulder and no one would put two and two together.

One member here uses a guitar case made for guns, I think he said he had brought it on a few bus's if I remember correctly. Toss on some guitar/band stickers and off you go..

for anyone bothered by others suggesting you move out of MA, enjoy paying the salaries of politicians that despise your existence beyond being tax slaves.

At least up here my gun rights are trending in the right direction and I can see the infrastructure improvements my taxes are paying for.

Back to the OP, I forget who said it without scrolling...but without a car youre not bringing rifles anywhere from Quincy. And it doesn't matter if you care about the opinions of strangers on the internet, of which there are 252 posts from, BUT...You're moving to the most anti 2A state in the country, AND you won't have a vehicle. By the sounds of it you're not super into guns anyway. Leave them with family or friends. I don't live your life and won't disparage your choices, but the inability to travel independently or have firearms are two of the most fundamental elements of the human experience. I wouldn't give them up for $175k. Best of luck either way.

IIRC, MA has a LONG history of voting in shitbags. Going back at least into the 80's.

I've looked up how much MA and NH pay per mile for road maintenance. Numbers are VERY different. Amazing how NH roads are [in general] in better shape than the ones in MA while spending less money per mile. Also funny how MA seems to run out of money to clear roads a LOT of years where NH doesn't. Towns in NH also spread sand and rock salt on the local roads as needed. Where MA spreads the expensive crap.

For OP, leave the guns in PA until you're in a position to actually enjoy them without any concerns. You could always buy something in state once you have your permission slip/papers. As just pointed out by Ultrarunner, you'll want SOME kind of vehicle before you start looking to get any firearms. I would NOT advise trying to bring something home on public transit.

Too late on the move to New Hampshire and commute. Would be way too far anyway and I don't have my own car. Working near the downtown Tufts Medical area and got a place near the subway station in Quincy. Rent prices downtown Boston is rape.
Everything in MA is rape.

I recommend a 55 gallon of lube. @Reptile sells them.

No need to over think it ...

*assuming you want to hide stuff from the neighbors*

You can get one of those guitar gun cases. I have 2, everyone loves them at the range.

When moving lots of stuff (like relocating), you can get a bunch of cardboard rifle boxes from ULINE. Throw the rifles there, people won't know what is in the boxes.

No one knows what a range bag looks like unless you want to get some tactical looking bag. My range bag looks like a fishing bag. Plain brown.

If you have a lot of handguns to move, get an Amazon Plano rifle case for like $10-20. The case comes in a cardboard box. Put multiple handguns in the case and throw it in the cardboard box.

As a single guy in my late 20s with a job offer that would provide a comfortable living, despite the huge jump up in living expenses. I hear Boston is full of single educated fit ladies is it true? Time to look up some hot yoga spots as well.
Dude, I have done plenty of dating in Boston.

It is packed with women.
99% are crazy AF and hate guns.
99% of the 99% will literally have a mental breakdown if you say the name "Trump".
Most will look at you like a piece of sh*t if you hunt.
At least 50% will think you are a scumbag if you drive a truck.

If you are a good looking guy and just want to get laid, you will do great with a dating app.

Barrets in West Bridgewater is a great place. Great ratio of women to men, none of the bullsh*t city stuff.

If you are into Liberal girls, there are a sh*t ton.
If you are into REAL women, there are very few.

Good luck.

PS: I used "girls" and "women" on purpose.

At a fair price, of course.

There is no better lube than Astroglide water based.

You'll do well with just ONE DROP.

I'm already on my 2nd barrel this month.

Been busy.
Is he still a Frog Lube reseller?? Asking for a friend. ;)
Don't mix business with pleasure...

Trust me, it BURNS!!!

Visited in my early 20s many years back. Was shocked at the number of fit hot young women jogging around. Back in my smaller PA town, the average BMI seems to be well north of 30 so this came as a huge shocker to me. They can't all be insufferable leftists can they?
Uh, so you just look at these Boston wenches? When you start TALKING to them you'll get a real education.

Why's everyone afraid of transporting on the MBTA? I did it for years without issues when I didn't need to own a car. Don't look like a tactical dumbass and you're good to go.

For the most part, it looks to me like NH and MA people telling a PA person not to move to MA.

This.

Not that it helps. OP has made it clear he's coming, and appears to have already signed a lease. Most of the responses here aren't applicable to his situation at all.

As per usual for NES.
