New Acquisitions - December 2024

Mini 14s are the kind of gun that should be in your collection, not sure why but you should have one lol. I have one cuz I figured its a popular rifle, getting spare parts, magazine's and such wouldn't be that hard when everything goes tits up....At least that's the reasoning I used to buy one.

I have two of the newer ones with the heavier barrel, I like how they handle and carry. They are completely reliable and will group around 1 MOA with the right ammo/loads. I had an older one and the accuracy was atrocious, went down the road.

I’ve got an M14 instead. To me, the Mini-14 is a poor man’s M14. I get that it is smaller and handier, so maybe there is a place for it. I’m a mil-surp collector, so the M14 fits into my collection better.

Swampfox order just arrived...

Just need to install onto the respective uppers. Just did a quick check and looks like I'll be able to put my 5x magnifier along with the Raider on the upper it will go onto. That will free up the LVPO on that upper to go onto another. I'll have to decide what the Trihawk will go onto.

I've been curious about the raider. Lemme know how it is after a bit of use

Got it installed on the upper. The magnifier is a no-go though. :( Complete blur festival when using it. Will see about getting to the range before too long to sight it in. Put it on the 10" 5.56 upper.

That mount is backwards. The point is to put the dot more forward to fit the magnifier behind it.

Please tell me you had it behind the dot and facing the right way. There should be a way to adjust the focus on the magnifier as well so it’s not blurry.

It came with the mount already installed. They included a lower height mount as well for those wanting to go that route. The 1.6" looks good to me. Also, the threaded end (as shown in the picture above) is for the honeycomb anti-glare item they also include.

Pretty easy to tell which way it should be mounted too. Look through it and the BRC reticle is correct only from one end. Also, it's NOT a red dot optic. :p 1x micro prism optic

NGD...X2!

I picked up these two guns a couple of weeks ago, and finally made it to the range with them last week. I went to my LGS to buy the Sig 1911-X, complete with the Romeo Zero RDS for a great price, and saw this slightly used Seecamp LWS-32 there, also for a good price, and couldn't pass it up. I had been looking for a Seecamp for a while, so I was quite pleased to find it. And I've also been looking for an optics ready 1911 in .45 for some time as well, so this Sig fit the bill perfectly. l added a Hogue grip to it, because that's just how I like 'em.

Both guns shot well, although since I'm spoiled with the triggers on a couple of my other 1911s, I'm planning on having a trigger job done on this one too. The Seecamp took a little getting used to, since there's no sight on this little thing. We have a rule at our gun club that you can't shoot any closer than 7 yards, and after a few shots, I still wasn't hitting paper, so it was real hard to tell how to sight this thing. I finally realized that it was shooting about 6-8" higher than where I thought I was aiming, so after that, I was able to get the shots on paper. These things weren't really made to shoot any further away than 10-15 feet, and even the owner's manual indicates that.

Anyway, without further ado, here are the two new guns (note: traditional 1911 purists may want to look away):

I don't think his mount on the optic is backwards

Can the mount be swung around the other way though to give more room behind the optic? A lot of cantilever mounts can face either way depending on how the optic mounts to them. Primary arms makes a ton of mounts that can fit their optics in either direction, for example, depending on whether you want the optic to be closer to you or further away in the same rail position.

I don't have that optic, it would be worth a shot if it works I would think
