New Acquisitions for September

Not a gun, but a little something for the front yard.

I want one of those for my front yard. Awesome.

I decided I wanted to give revolver shooting a real shot this time. I've had them before, but never follow through with it. I scooped up a really nice looking Model 19-5 with an old S&W leather holster. I ordered speed loaders, holster, and some more ammo to start practicing for plate shooots. Can't wait. I hope it shoots as well as it looks.

These aren't really new acquisitions, per se, but things I finally brought down from Maine and registered in MA.

That's a Stevens 12 Guage on top, followed by my mid-1950s Winchester 94 in 30-30, then my Remington 870. Under that from left to right is my Hi Standard Trail King .22 LR, Walther P38 of somewhat undetermined vintage (1940s at least, but having a tough time pinning down exactly when) then there is a piece of crap SA .22 revolver that I can't even remember the brand off the top of my head (it's some cheap import from the 80s - most of the really cheap finish has already worn off and even after a thorough cleaning the operation feels like it has sand in it).

I left more stuff in Maine because my old man uses some of my guns and I don't have the heart to bring them down here - my Remington 700 BDL stayed there, along with a couple other long guns.

I don't usually post on this thread but if anyone is in doubt that gen 4 10mm's exist, they do.

So I just picked up a Uberti 1876 in .45/60 on Bunbroker. I wanted a .50/95, but I have so darn much .45/70 brass already that it just made sense to go with the .45/60. While I was waiting for my rifle to arrive I trimmed down 40 rds of brass and ordered the dies from Buffalo Arms as well as their 300 gr bullet mold with the crimp groove. By the time the rifle arrived I had cast enough bullets to load up the amount of brass I had ready. The load was 62 grs of Goex Cartridge grade powder with a .060 Walter's wad and a Winchester magnum rifle primer. The rifle came with a Marbles tang sight and a beach style front sight with no barrel sight. I hit the range yesterday and set up at 50 yards to get dialed in. First shot was way low, but after a couple of adjustments I was up and centered. The rifle functioned smoothly and perfectly . Once I was used to it I was getting touching groups and then shot a few clays set on the berm. The only down side is that the Marble's sight set at it's highest setting shoots dead center at 50 yards. I guess I need either a lower front sight or maybe one of the new Marble's tang sights with the taller posts for longer ranges. For now I am very happy with this rifle. At least these old eyes can see the target well at 50 yards.

Sorry for the crappy picture... This is more of a July/August/September acquisition, however it is just about done.

The trigger is better on the lcr 38 than the 22. I have both and love them but, the 38 is so much nicer. The springs are heavier on the 22. Don't get me wrong, they both are great. The best part is shooting the rimfire for a while and then switching to the 38 with the lighter trigger. Sweet shooter.

Nice. I love my Gen4 19. I am carrying it as we speak. Its reliable as hell and shoots like a dream. Good luck with it Messala.

And nice LCR22 and SR22! I want the SR22 badly and I've heard great things about the LCR.
