I don’t think so. For 100 bucks a year I would rather not go back to MA unless absolutely necessary.
I’ve been back exactly two times since we left.
My nephew was home for leave at Christmas and my former Fire Chief had a celebration of life.

Sadly, we still need to go through our local PD’s. I’m up for renewal in February, started the process with the PD just after Labor Day, my in-person sit-down isn’t until early December.

Is the in person sit down upon renewal standard practice for every town? I'm coming up on my second renewal next year and my first renewal there was no meeting requested. I just dropped off my paperwork and got my new license in the mail.

It used to be every 6 years for non-residents, but it's now all by mail, although they may ask you to come in again at their discretion. I have a calendar reminder to send out my 8th renewal in a couple of weeks, and I'm hoping to extend my perfect record for not having to go in for a re-interview, knock on wood.

I didnt have any sitdown on renewal, just a call to come pick it up.
Didnt have any kind of meeting past getting my prints taken when I got the first one either.

Re: the in-person sit down, with the exception of one renewal cycle when I lived somewhere else, I’ve gone in at renewal time to hand in the application, pay da man, get fingerprinted, and have a very low level conversation with the licensing officer. It’s all fairly routine and I figured that’s what we all do here in MA. With the exception of the three month lead time wrangle an appointment to hand in the actual renewal paperwork and $$$ this time around, the process has always been the same for me.

Utah has it right. Just renewed on my phone. No account needed. Fill out tenewal, take picture on my phone, pay the fee and about a week later the license arrives. MA blows.

They are just requiring us to do the data entry now too.

But your experience isn't everyones. In past years I've done renewals in 2 towns in MA, they boarder each other so not a regional thing. In one dropped of the paperwork and they said was to leave it on the counter and they mail the licence to me. The other made you file and come back for an appointment where they sat down with you and asked a bunch of stupid question, took new picture and print even though they had them on file (didn't even use the new picture, used the DMV pic), and when the license arrived you had to pick it up during business hours.

And there are some that are worse.
With no standard process, when a PD goes too far, the resulting court case only affects the one applicant. That PD may take the hint for a time, but they end up going back to the overboard BS eventually.

doing it online is only making it easier for THEM, not us. you still have to go to pd for prints and pics anyway.....

I just applied for my non resident Utah license

I dropped off my renewal in August for November. They said prints on file, picture from RMV.

In the past I needed photos and prints so something has changed. I hope it comes before my birthday. In the past I got them in under a month but that licensing Officer retired two renewals ago.

Now they seem to sit on them and deliver for your birthday.

If you need a license to carry a firearm in Utah, they do not have it right lol

Douche towns probably still do this to drag put the process and discourage renewals. The petty tyrants now hemmed in via Bruen, this is all they have left, to supply annoying bureaucracy.
