Great looking 1911, how long did the build take?? Really great job!

Graham, I was pretty lucky on this build. The slide had been fit to the frame when I bought it, and most of my parts needed very small amounts of filing to get them to fit. Over all I probably have about 20 hrs into it, and 4 hours was dedicated to fitting the mag release that was the biggest PITA. I also used stainless duracoat on the frame and slide and the small parts where done in rem870.

Got 1911's?

I found this chasing around a link from a friend. WOW!

A few others keeping it company, in the interest of full disclousure, I just sold the Grizzly. No more safe queens for me...

That's a fine looking 1911, where'd you pick that up, if you don't mind my asking?

Meth0d...I assume you were asking about the SR1911 I posted. It was an impulse buy...I shoot down at Braintree and wandered over to Hunters Trading Post in Weymouth and they had one in stock. I stopped by Four Seasons later in the day and they had a few available and for a couple dollars cheaper. Taking it to the range tomorrow hopefully so I'll try and post up a report this weekend.

I was indeed, thanks for the info! Did Hunter's Trading Post have any others in stock? It's a bit closer for me than FS.

ETA: Thanks for recognizing the zero in my screen name, most people miss it [laugh]

I have one of those 2004 Kimber anniversary editions. Those grips it comes with are awful. Mine is a nice shooter now that it's seen two gunsmiths. I had an Ed Brown safety put on it, a Dawson FO front, an extended mag release, and an S&A magwell..... I also had the damned beavertail reshaped a bit, as I found the stock grip safety on that gun to be unreasonably painful for some reason.

Love the Wilson in the pic, BTW... it's almost like the Kimbers are going "I wanna be like that gun when I grow up!!!" [rofl]

Hunter's didn't have any others in stock and they hinted it might be a while before they would get another one. If Braintree isn't out of your way I'd be happy to let you take it for a "test drive" to see if you want to hunt one down. The general consensus is that stock of these will be limited for a while.

That seems to be the case, they are somewhat rare at this point (good for my wallet, haha). Thanks for the offer to try it out, that's very generous of you! I'll keep it in mind for when I am ready to seriously start looking for one.
