Half cock is not your friend
Nice 1911
Don't want to derail too much, but I just got my first 1911 as well (SR1911), what is the purpose of the half-cocked position?

If the sear nose breaks and/or the hammer falls without the trigger being pulled, the half cock will stop the hammer from hitting the firing pin. but you don't want to rest the sear on the half cock, its a fail safe, not a rest position
Have I mentioned lately that I love NES?! Had wondered the same but forgot to ask... was that part of Browning's original design or added with the A1 updates? If the sear nose breaks and/or the hammer falls without the trigger being pulled, the half cock will stop the hammer from hitting the firing pin. but you don't want to rest the sear on the half cock, its a fail safe, not a rest position

Lol it will be awhile before I get another though these things aren't cheap!!! I love the smith and Wesson e series those are just gorgeous!!!^^^^^ Nice get, ,gov is going to require a warning label "warning the 1911 is addicting, you will but more!!!" Then for the safety of those that can't figure out that coffee is actually HOT. on the slide, at the muzzle "Warning bullet comes out here!!"![]()
Didn't have any 1911s and liked the look of the SIG so I figured i'd give it a try. Taking it out tomorrow. I picked it up used, but taking it apart I don't think it was actually fired much if at all.
Just perfect... gorgeous!!1945 Remington Rand
