Smith and Wesson teases "No Lock" new revolvers

New announcement of a special run of no-lock 686 and 629, both in Mountain Gun configurations. This looks like some good stuff.

I know some people like heavy barrel guns, and like the full underlug on 686 revolvers, but I have always preferred a thinner profile. I think the lighter barrel guns point better and balance better in the hand. I also think they look much more pleasing.

I have always thought that the 686 Mountain Gun should have been the standard version. But almost all 686 revolvers have a full underlug, and Mountain Guns have always been hard to find, and priced accordingly.

I am pretty happy to see this release, but it does cement the feeling that I mentioned earlier in this thread. I will no longer consider buying a S&W revolver with a lock. I will either buy an older gun, or wait for Smith to make what I want in the way I want it.

Now we're talking. I was just about to post that they should start making Mountain Guns again..............without the frucking lock. Nice looking grips too. Looks like they might only be limited runs by Lipsey's though.

Now we're talking. Enjoy the "a" word. (Allocation)

Have they added any more to the "no lock" lineup?

Aside from the beauty pageant, and what the lock represents, does having a lock affect the performance or weight or use of the pistol in any way?
