Target Sports Delivering Again - Megathread

No, go to the last page, then go back 4 pages.
Start reading there but go backwards in the thread, then go back to 4 from the last and read those.

It will make sense.
Later. Running to the mill real quick. Then a few drinks, I'll check it out then. I want to be able to contribute something constructive.

Any leads on .303 British? Finally got some 6.5 Swedish Mauser on TG. Just reupped my membership too.
Are you near NH? SGAmmo has PPU 303 in stock and free shipping on $200. Can ship it to the UPS Store in Salem, NH. They may or may not charge a $5 fee for pickup. No account needed and you don’t need to give them a heads up. Just show up, sign, show drivers license pay $5 and leave. I’ve done it a million times so far. Just make sure to put UPS Store in the address 1 line since multiple business are in that same plaza with same address.

What I was getting at by saying that, is that at the distances people typically shoot pistols, accuracy of the ROUND isn’t really a huge factor…accuracy of the shooter plays a bigger part. It’s only when you get into longer range/rifle shooting that accuracy/precision REALLY come into play.
With regards to pistol ammo accuracy, I've heard it explained this way.

Say you're making truly horrendous ammo. 5 MOA...

At 100 yards, that a 5" group. (Id be happy af to shoot 5" groups at 100 yards with a pistol)
At 50 yards, that's a 2.5" group.
At 25 yards, that's a 1.25" group.
At 12.5 yards (37.5 feet, or Tuellar Drill distance + >50%) that's a 5/8" group, about the size of a thumbnail.

If it shoots, cycles the gun and doesn't keyhole, (can bullets keyhole at short distances?) then its good for me.

Yeah many few shooters will ever notice if pistol ammo is inaccurate lol

I only had one gun keyhole and I still don't know why.

My 45/70 revolver at 25 yards.

No leading and bullets are sized to .459 ... so weird. Cleaned it, started shooting other bullets and it shoots fine now.

For those of you on the fence about 9mm range ammo...

S&B is down to 25 cases,
GECO is down to ZERO cases. (WOW, went from 27 cases to zero in the time it took to write this post...)

Why wait, even with the current primer prices you can reload it for under $200/K.
Minus your $$ time...
I bought all the shit to do it, but then life took over again.
$200/case and I stock up lol and still have time to run a business....
I'll admit, I am pretty lazy as well.

Thanks for the tip!

It has been discussed several times. If you have to take time off work to reload, it doesn't make sense.

This is NES, sir…where small packages rule the day.

I personally prefer the gargantuan packages myself…because when I fill up an entire closet in my house with primers, it makes me feel like a man.
Now I know why you love Federal primers so much….

🤣

This, 100%

Slow firing at a paper target doesn't do sh*t if your goal is to be proficient for a defense situation.

Quick draw and shoot is what you want combined with transitioning to several targets.

In this scenario, pretty much all cheap factory ammo will be equal.

Steel challenge or USPSA action pistol are better real life practice sports than shooting at a piece of paper and seeing how tight your group can get.
Interesting. The only place I can think of in central MA that might do this is maybe WP&R. Is that something you just show up and do, or do you have to join it like a league?

Show up and shoot. Don't even worry about having all the right gear, just let then know you are trying it out.

There are a lot of clubs doing it, check out Practiscore.

It slows during winter, picks back up around April.
