There was a discussion of blue guns in a suimilar thread a few weeks ago. The idea was more or less shot down as being a little risky.

Now, if blue guns ARE in, then two things:

1) c-pher - you listening?
2) Who was the guy at the pumpkin shoot with the army jeep & machine gun rig? We need a blue 1919 or something for him!

I'm definitely in! A couple of months ago I decided that if there was to be any new Federal gun control, and there was a protest, I would do whatever I could to be there.

I continue to maintain that this is a very bad idea.

Remember that the media is on the side of the anti-gunners.

While they don't focus on the fringe in covering other 'million___' marches, you can be GUARANTEED they will go after every nut in the crowd for comments and footage to support their belief that gun owners, irresponsible, and a threat to the safety of non-gun owners.

This may be all the impetus needed for Obama, Pelosi, and Reid to pass the most sweeping anti-gun legislation we could imagine.

Think this through!

F*ck the media, time for them to learn they are not really a fourth estate. You want to cower and HOPE that someone doesn't steal our RKBA feel free, I will be marching to show them and the thieves that are running our country that that CHANGE would be a bad idea.

So what do we do then? Roll over like good doggies while they peck away at us little by little? Sure they're going to spin away, so what. They're going to do that anyway. The worst thing would be if some nut actually did something during the protest.

Pelosi, Obama, Reid etc. don't need any impetus they are naturally anti-gun and will try to pass or pass the most sweeping anti-gun legislation we can imagine anyways.
They need to know that if they do there will be millions against them.

If you think that the media is who controls all debate in this country - and if you think that nothing but what the mainstream media prints is what the people and the politicians use to make their decisions - then what you are saying might be right.

The thing is this: there has never been a million gun owner march before. SO to have it happen now is making a pretty big political statement. The mainstream media will have an extremely hard time explaining this one away.

I would argue that something a little out of the ordinary needs to be done here: like make it a TWO million gun owner march. That would be a message that would be very very hard to ignore.

If those two million people tied up Washington for a couple of days it would make another statement: that the American people are who are really in charge here. We can screw up Washington by simply showing up.

I say we should march in silence. Like a ghost army.

A couple of things we should remember:

1) We need to be respectful
2) We need to obey the laws (however asinine they are)
3) We need to demonstrate that gunowners are peaceful, educated, law-abiding people.
4) We need to make sure that we have literature to distribute.

Maybe we have shirts made up that say "What part of "shall not be infringed" don't you understand?"

We need to band together for all those who truly love liberty. One of the biggest problems as I see it is, we (liberty loving people) are not very well organized. We have too many small orgs scattered around with very little cooperative effort.

How do we amalgamate all of them together?

I went to the one back in the mid 1990's- it was great. Thousands of well behaved, well dressed, well spoken gun owners. The NPS said that we were the cleanest group they ever had- pretty much all of the trash wound up where it belonged, unlike all the other groups. No fights, no arrests, no vandalism, no drinking or drugs.

C-Span ran it unfiltered, the drive-by media gave it short mention.

Screw it, it time to make our voices heard. It's time for the soap box. I don't want another ten years of or worse of a semi auto ban/mag ban/ God knows what else ban.

My thoughts exactly. How can you be heard if you say nothing? I do think there should be some general guidelines though. The protesters need to be respectful, and reasonably well dressed. I'd cringe to see hundreds of thousands of camo-BDU wearing nuts walking around, it really wouldn't help our cause. The message needs to be clear: we are ordinary citizens that want our rights, not lunatic fringe groups. I agree with the ideas on informational packets. That would help educate people, and help spell out for protesters some good one-liners for the media.

Want to bet there would be "plants" in the crowd that would do exactly that...act like nuts and drooling idiots"? Infiltrators have been doing that for years. For Communists/Marxists, it is a staple. Look at almost any "major" protest today (on the Lefty side), and you will (with close look) find funding and population from Communist/Marxist organizations.

How many "right wing" or "conservative" demonstrations are there really? Most of these folks are out working, holding down jobs, and supporting their families. They (for the most part) just don't have time to demonstrate....too busy earning a living.

An exception I can think of is "biker/vets". Want to be an a**h*** and "infiltrate" a biker/vet rally...of any type? Number one, you need to own and ride a bike. Number two, you will be picked out in a heatbeat, unless you are a "superspy" or "super-agitator". And, in the end, you WILL pay a price. These folks will schedule their vacation time around such major rallies and devote time to it. Note: Vacation Time...they have jobs.

Does not mean that "side agitators", of any purpose, will not be present...no matter the venue. No way to avoid it.

IMHO, a "demonstration" and "march" by gun-rights folks will be infiltrated and destroyed by the "plants". Our largest weapons are education, knowledge, facts, advertising, support of our groups, and, most importantly, voter awareness.

When it comes down to actual "facts", most Leftys/Liberals/Socialists/Communists/Marxists, have no viable answers. The most common result is a personal attack on yourself....You are "racist', "bigot", "anti-environment", "anti-wildlife", "anti-humanity" "anti-children" ...etc. etc. Anything to deflect from fact. This needs to be recognized, no different than dealing with an intruder. You, as an individual, need to be prepared. In this case we are speaking of words, ideas and arguments.

Remember....."Figures can lie, and liers can figure." It is even truer today.

I think we are in for a very rough four years...and it is up to each and everyone of us, in the course of general conversation, to state our ideas very clearly and without animosity...and support them with facts.

All of the above notwithstanding, if any SOB threatens myself or my family, in any way, shape or form...I will do my best to "eliminate the threat", no matter what it takes. [wink]

p.s. the way to do this right it network between now and then to get as many "friendlies" in the news world as we can to present "our side"...

You know the KGB (er, CNN) will be there doing there thing... All we can do is counter with our own propaganda (aka the truth)...

This is indeed one of the problems - "right leaning" people don't protest and the squeaky wheel gets the stimulus bailout...
