The Conference Committee has sent official language out - h.4885

When I [hypothetically, Maura] carry my standard-cap mag in my Glock tomorrow?

I'm going to feel like a muthaf***in' gangsta, yo.

Yes, You just can’t use it to defend your life outside of your home. Because that would just be so wrong.
There is no self defense in this state you will always be arrested and have the courts sort it out. If you want more information about a real world (Massachusetts) about this contact me.

It's more like this:

1) Any firearm (by the new definition, including frames) that was lawfully posessed ON Aug 1,2024 by a licensed individual (LTC or FFL) SHALL NOT be considered a ASW; provided it is registered per 121B.
2) 121B outlines a future system with 1 year implementation and 1 year registration period.
[ Time machine to future ]
Was Receiver X lawfully posessed on Aug 1, 2024? Yes. Was Receiver X a firearm? Yes. Has it been registered per 121B (before 2 years)?: Not yet... Is it an ASW? No.
Of its not an AW cuz 8/1 goodness why does it need to be double registered in a another 121B database.

So next go around they can come pick those up as contraband. That’s a Californication.

Wut?

Lost me.

I’m asking about a mag.
You can still have preban magazines, possession is not banned. There are only restrictions on what and how you can use them. They must be unloaded in a locked container unless you are on the range. The way this law is written safe storage of preban large cap magines unloaded in a locked container. I don't think this means you can use them in your gun at home. However just give a try and see how it works out. Even if you protect yourself in your home with deadly force you are going to be arrested and the ADA will charge you and let the courts sort it out. It could be just one more charge against you. No ban, just restricted use

Yes. Thanks. I was clear on that.

You mentioned pre ban guns. Those are still ok.

Ho-lee…. Shit.

First of all, it’s not “only” use restrictions as if that were some trivial thing.

Second, no, this law does not make them unlawful to use at home.

Third, there are indeed self defense cases in this state where LTC holders are not charged in self defense shootings. We don’t hear about them, but they happen.

Did you even read the bill? I ask because you seem to have a *LOT* of misunderstandings about what’s in it.

Full cap mags are banned from possession unless:
- pre ’94 AND any of the following:
- in your home
- at a gun range
- at someone else’s place if you have permission
- a gun shop for repair
- a police station for turn-in/destruction
- unloaded in a locked container to or from any of those places.

Exactly. Goals bs is NOT THE BILL. It’s clear as day the only requirement for locking up pre ban mags are during transportation. I even got toby from cape anne to ammend their previous statement.

Hahhahahahaha

So which gun shops do magazine repair?

Larry won’t ship mag followers, so I guess I need a pro to upgrade a pre 1994 mag

Somebody is misunderstanding something. He has been selling the same AR & AK alternatives (i.e., non-copy/non-duplicate guns) as everyone else.
Probably was ranting about ARs specifically. I went to Northeast Arms a year ago, saw stuff on the walls like MCX, SCAR, etc and made the mistake of asking if they had stripped AR lowers. Guy was obviously pissed and told me if he sold me that we would both get a fed with a warrant on our doorstep. I didn’t bother to ask why a fed would care about a state level enforcement notice that had no legal weight regardless. Don’t mind people selling what they want to sell but don’t make shit up and lie to your customers.

I am corrected now and reeducated. Thank you
