The Conference Committee has sent official language out - h.4885

Was at Cape Cod Gun Works yesterday and they are completely sold out. They had two full pallets of Spears that sold out in less then a week. When doing a transfer the worker we were using indicated that one guy bought 15 a $2800 a piece. Holy credit card beating.
I order my sig mcx spear lt 7.62 from Cape Gun Works yesterday. I got the last one they had for sale. I had been trying to order online for like a day and a half. But the website would not allow me to process my purchase. I ended up calling them like a hundred times and no one answered. Finally I got through to a worker through email just in the nick of time and picked up the last one. Now I just have to wait for compliance work.

I saw that lone rifle in the empty rack when I was there. Figured it wouldn’t last long. They had a couple of Sig Regulators in 556 left in the glass case but the price was up to $3300 a piece and they are ugly as hell.

FightbackMA has a chart that explains the process:

The process is covered in: Part I -> Title VIII -> Chapter 54 -> Section 54

To get 50,000 + signatures in 90 days will require some work, aside from word of mouth the following will likely be needed

Well-designed flyers/post cards mailed to ltc holder’s addresses from the infamous data leak, not cheap but effective to a targeted audience. Seems outdated in this day and age but I’ve done this for my real estate side hustle and people notice them. Key is in the messaging, I suspect many ltc holders know nothing about the new law and if they believe the media that it’s about ghost guns, they will think it’s a good law. Sucks but true.

Well crafted emails from all in state clubs to their members with a link to the petition.

Facebook marketing with link to the petition.

I’m sure goal will email their members, hopefully they are concise in their communication so it doesn’t get lost in the noise

I for one am happy to help with time and/or money if I know it’s being efficiently utilized, I know others here will be as well.

Very surprised at the lack of emails from the clubs in Mass. I'm going to send another email to the clubs I belong to asking about notification and the upcoming signature request.

Can a lawsuit be filed against a law that has been suspended due to a referendum?

IANAL, but I imagine the suit would be accepted, then the case would be immediately continued. So it would just sit there until everything played out.

To be honest, I've got no idea how common it is for laws to be suspended in this way. There might not be very much precedent for how to handle things like this.

Right?

I 'think' it has been established that a suit couldn't be filed until the law was passed.

If the law becomes not really a law yet, do the 2A organization have to hold off? IANAL either! (Had to look that one up)

And an AR is still better. I handled/looked at one of those and I am like who the f is buying this, some idiotic SIG fanboy?

I think it would get filed, because the law is passed and signed; the law, in a sense, is in effect. It's just that that effect is suspended.

So I suspect the court would respect that it's a temporary situation, file the suit to make sure the ball's rolling and that the objection has been registered, and then just... wait to see what happens.

That's my interpretation as well. It's just a 'stay' while it's voted on, but it still was 'passed'. Honestly I'm pushing it as keeping out FFLs in buisness and citizens able to shop as none of the requirements ('approved list' and new online system and training program actually exist and won't for the foreseeable future as there is no funding or drive to do so)

Getting the signatures of 10% of the lawful gun owners in this state should be entirely doable.
Too many gun owners aren’t aware of this bill. I don’t know the best way to make them aware, but we need to start now. The fudds with FID’s that have semi-autos that are technically felons now according to this bill, and others that can’t get that shotgun or rifle they will want need to be made aware. Too many LTC holders aren’t aware either. Heightening awareness now is how we get the signatures needed.

Question
Do “we” get to buy and sell under the “current” law before the new law takes effect in Oct ?
I have some need for cash and have a few items I would like to sell
Yes. And if they were in the state as of 8/1/2024 there are no new restrictions on private transfers (4 per year, etc)
