The Conference Committee has sent official language out - h.4885

Has anyone noticed a statement on local news yet?

Seems like they're holding mum
Yes it was like 3 seconds. Basically said a gun reform bill passed. It targets ghost guns. I think that was it. I was flabberghasted. I'm convinced the only people who have read it and tried to understand it's effects is "our side"

Cause they're only reading the buzz words, not true consequences

Where did it say I was happy about what happened? Have you donated any money to any 2a groups since this happened? FPC, GOA, GOAL, NAGR, SAF, etc., or do you just like to complain and sling BS?
You were celebrating the fact that this triggers more guns being sold. It also coincides with newer shooters being locked out.

Unbunch your panties - it wasn't an attack on you, but rather a reminder of the next generation's plight.

I have recurring donations set up for fpc (among other ad hoc donations) Thanks for asking though.

They created a bill that turned law-abiding, taxpaying citizens into felons claiming it will stop "gun-violence" criminal activity.

Are Democrat voters this retarded?
Yes.

Every claim in the pressor about “keeping our citizens safe”, or “protecting our communities”, or “common sense” are simply strawmen to infringe on our rights as legal gun owners.

It’s all bullshit and not one thing will change to fulfill any one of those three mantras.

I was expecting more of a story, this has been in the works for a bit
They don’t want to tell the whole story, especially the part about the fact that in 90 days FFLs may not be able to sell a single rifle or shotgun of ANY kind just as the hunting season is getting into full swing.

Never forget the media hates us

"Ghost Guns" is their pet catchphrase. Lefties use it all the time without knowing what it means, but it sounds scary so it's something they repeat again and again.

The technicalities of this law, which matter so much to those of us on NES, would be impossible for non-gun people to understand. Remember: most of them think five-year-olds can buy whole guns off the internet, even in MA. Every anti I've ever spoken with, once I've explained about LTCs and fees and suitability, has thought I was lying about all that.

They don't care about any of that, so the news won't cover it. They'll stick with the snappy catchphrase.

As I said, these are lawyers and politicians whose arrogance does not let them see their own errors. The red flag law is probably the worst part of this all, because we know there are a lot of weak, soft people in this state who will abuse it to get back at those who did not commit any act that could imply a threat to life.

All of this bill has to be cast down as the unconstitutional, authoritarian piece of shit it is.

And you can forget about competition with out of state competitors or hunters, they will be required to register their gun(s) before coming into the state, who is going to do that.

I had emailed the AGs office after the guidance and asked. (I wished I still had the email) but I remember them saying as long as the lower was purchased pre 7/20 it was legal. However, that could be irrelevant given what is actually written in this law.

I emailed Rep Day and asked this question, figure I would go to the horses mouth. I doubt I will hear back though.

You clearly misunderstood my initial post, but that's okay.

I’m wondering if there is any kind of streamlining of the process of getting this in front of SCOTUS given that it has the potential of being a complete ban on RKBA for 18-21 year olds. After all, they’re not allowed to own handguns so if FFLs are also prohibited from selling them rifles or shotguns…

This bill is critically important to us, but there are literally hundreds of cases involving civil rights that are just as important to the people involved in those cases nationwide, and only nine people to decide whether or not they're worth hearing. Nothing makes this one particularly special.

SCOTUS has demonstrated repeatedly that they're not interested in granting cert to gun cases that haven't yet percolated up through the appellate levels. They're not likely to make an exception for this law, which is at least consistent.

The good news is that we might not have to wait for this case to reach SCOTUS. Other cases in other circuits are much farther along than this one, and will get to the Supremes within a year or so. Those rulings are likely to have a profound effect on certain aspects of this law, too.

This law wouldn't have stopped that 22 year old getting shot in brockton last night
Nor would it have stopped the spray and pray that killed Juanita’s son Darrell on that Springfield porch. It’s not the criminal but it’s the gun’s fault…

From the press release:

Juanita Batchelor, a survivor of gun violence, a volunteer with the Massachusetts chapter of Moms Demand Action, and the Executive Director of The Darrell Lee Jenkins Jr. Resource Center:

“Massachusetts has long been a national leader on gun safety and today, Governor Healey is taking another step forward by signing this life-saving legislation into law. We’re grateful that our lawmakers and Governor Healey continue to recognize the need for ever-stronger gun safety laws like a prohibition on ghost guns and a ban on guns in places like government buildings and polling places. Every life lost to gun violence is preventable and with the enactment of this law, now our communities will have more tools to prevent these tragedies.”

Just commenting on what the law WONT do

This whole things raising my blood pressure too much again, more so from their lying than the law itself. Im gonna go back to not thinking about it while im about to go on vacation.

Good luck to everyone buying out the shops this week

Breaking: GOAL has received word that the H.4139 conference committee has concluded their negotiations and have presented their new language to the clerks and counsel for both chambers. We have not seen the language yet but are working on getting a copy. Once we have the full version of the new bill we will have analysis and breakdowns on our website goal.org.

Please keep checking back as more information will be made available as we receive it.
Am I reading correctly that this law bans online ammo sales?

How in the fu*k do I find out which of my guns are already registered?
How in the fu*k do I find out if there are any registered guns in my name I don’t own anymore?

No I read I can’t use a large cap mag for hunting…. I don’t even own a 10 rounder!

Could someone explain this to me?
I am tempted to say the best way to comply with the registration is to take everything down to the police station and suck start each gun until the police help you out.

The ink hasn't dried and people are rushing to comply - they are why we are in this position.

" the legislation requires all firearms, including individual frames and receivers, to be stamped with a serial number. It also includes new penalties for possession, creation and transfer of untraceable guns. "

so how does this impact guns from before 1968 that don't and were required to have serial numbers?
It doesn't if you don't plan on complying
