In one of my shotguns I like to run Mini-Shells 1 3/4". Which it runs without issues.

My question is in regards to Shotgun Velcro Cards. Have you found a velcro card that works well with Mini Shells?

I find that of the 3 brands that I own, they all, are not easy to remove the shells, when properly seated.

Any input from those that that have felt with this issue, is appreciated.

I wouldn’t necessarily use mini shells in place of 2 3/4 shells but the mini shells are no joke. I think the mini slugs get 1200 feet per second depending on brand & barrel length.

OP sorry I don’t have a recommendation on the velcro card.

At about $10./box of 10 shells, why even consider the shells, just go with regular shells at 1145 fps. Just a gimmick IMO

I mean, could definitely argue overpriced. But I’m not sure how they’re a gimmick. They could provide the amount of terminal ballistics desired, but with less recoil, weight, size, and more capacity.

On the shotgun that I chose to use them in:

I do so because they run reliably;

and they
increase capacity!

I'm just looking for removable side saddles that will hold Mini-Shells.

I mean, the slugs are still 386 grains going 1,300 fps. If that won’t stop someone then we better just throw all of our pistols in the trash.

Maybe. Not the OP, but I know of some folk that have had feed issues. I'm not sure I'd trust a save-my-ass gun to maybe shells. You could short-stroke your way to an early grave.

As far as increased capacity, if you can't get it done with 5+1 or so iwth your shotgun, you've probably got bigger problems. ;)

OPSOL out of Texas among others sells a widget that's easily installed and removed for Mossbergs that alleviates feed issues.

100% someone should make sure they cycle reliably on their gun, and make sure of they over much more than one range session.

I thought you were referencing power. My bad.

They work, I have several of them for my shotguns. Easy install, easy removal.

They run reliably in my 590S but they pattern like crap. Hard pass until Federal makes a Flitecontrol wad for the minis.

The keltec ksg holds 23 short shells and eats them like lobsah in buttah.

Forget the velcro card

Have you thought about just putting them in your pocket?
For as little as I shoot my shotguns, that is my preferred method. Fill up a cargo pocket in a shirt or pants.

I tried the velcro card route, it was too annoying, none of them worked well. I ended up going with a small pouch on a shoulder strap and leave it hanging from the shotgun when not in use. The mini shells work 100% of the time in my Mossberg 500 with the rubber wedge installed, and it pops in and out easy enough with a little force if I want to convert it back, BUT with the mini shells, my 14 year old son likes shooting it, so I'm happy to do whatever it takes to get him out shooting with me. He had a great time a couple weeks ago turning a couple of 55 gallon metal oil drums into properly ventilated burn barrels with it.

Hi OP, I'll give you what you are looking for: the "Elite Spanker" brand (oh yes, everyone...it's legit) on Amazon holds them just fine. I only use Federal mini shells. You'll want to make sure the brass is tucked into the elastic, and you will want to keep them "brass up". All shotgun cards lose a little elastic tension over time, so you may want to keep a few unloaded.

Also, you can sew in a little dental floss to keep things tightened up besides the elastic.

the whole point of a shotgun is to unload a bunch of energy in a single shot

minishells pattern like shit compared to 8 pellet federal low recoil FC wad with a mod choke.

why anyone would want to put 3 or 4 pellets on a man sized spread at 10 yards vs putting all 8 in a golf ball sized pattern at the same range really blows my mind

like going from 10mm to .40

…suggest that you periodically flush the brake fluid in your vehicles…

This is more important than most people realize. Brake fluid is hygroscopic so it absorbs water from the atmosphere which, over time, corrodes your brake system from the inside out.

Glad I was able to contribute to the thread drift.

Thank You! I ordered one on Thursday evening.
I received it; and it works great...
Thanks You!
