Ultimate SHTF rifle???

I send all my rifles to a smith prior to shooting them. My advice is you do also. If he comes back and tells me it’s a 3 inch gun I stop and get rid of it. Instead of chasing good money after bad trying to fix it. I’ve had a lot ofvrofle come in then out of my life with this attitude. Especially mini 14s,, they sucked.
You send your guns to someone else to tell you if they are accurate or not?

You definitely pay more for a good AK than AR now days is all. Either are extremely reliable.

Lots of < $1000 AR15s are perfectly fine quality. You can buy one new, take it home, quick cleaning & lube, then very likely it will run thousands of rounds of any half decent ammo without a failure, out of common pmags, as accurately as mil spec ammo allows.

If they are I get work done, if not no. I don’t want to spend a crap ton of time shooting crappy guns. And really what does it cost to have a smith shoot your guns? 35 bucks?

This is probably the most lazy thing I've EVER seen on a gun forum... If you cannot figure it out ( if its 3" or less") then you probably need a new hobby...

Man card revoked!!!!

What ammo are they testing the rifle with? What are their protocols (what position is the “smith” shooting from, how many rounds per group, any cleaning or break in procedure before doing a group for record?) How good of a shooter are they?

I find this fascinating and insane at the same time.

Unless your gunsmith is located at Fort Moore and works for the U.S. Army Marksmanship Unit, then you have way more trust in your gunsmith than I would.

Why don’t you spend a box of ammo or 5-10 rounds of several boxes, at least, to get to know the rifle to see if it’s accurate for you and your ammo, and so see if you like how it shoots… for you?

He's a cuck to his gunsmith...

Hey, will you bang my new G/F before I do? I want to make sure she's a decent lay before I waste my time banging her... Thanks...

Come on guys, I shoot probably more than most of you, but I have favorite rifles and then ones for collecting. Just cause I have enough dough to let a smith screw my new girlfriend doesn’t make me anything but a guy with hardly any time. I buy any of your surplus (time) so I have more, but I can’t. So wasting 2 hours driving and setting up and all the other shit involved in checking a rifle. I’d rather pay someone. Also if it’s GTG, then they know what things I want done to it upon return

But I gotta give it to you guys. Your giving me a thorough ball busting.

Finally!!! Someone who can take some crap!!!!

OK, I'll give you your man card back based on your thick skin!

However my posts are staying up!!!! And I reserve the right to give you more crap in the future if its warranted...

I can appreciate crunched time. It’s arguably the most valuable non-renewable resource … but seriously, I think you have some flawed processes here.

What ammo is your gunsmith using? Different types? Probably not, considering it’s only costing you $35. Most non-match barrels simply don’t like some ammo. What if he uses said ammo?

And how many rounds is he firing before determining if a gun is crap? Is he shooting a 3 round group and calling it a day? Because that is woefully too small of a group.

How good of a shooter is he? Has he won matches? Is he a Distinguished Rifle shooter or President’s Hundred? How can you trust he doesn’t just jank one of the shots?

Is he following any sort of break-in/cleaning procedure? Some barrels take a few dozen rounds to break in and start shooting well. Most barrels aren’t hand lapped before shipping. Further, most barrels have grease and crap in them that needs to be cleaned out first. Are you doing that before giving it to your gunsmith?

I would wager that there have been good guns that your gunsmith hasn’t assessed properly, and you’ve since sold. I’d also wager there were guns you would have had fun with that he said weren’t good enough, but you never got a chance to see if you actually enjoyed them. Example, my M1 Carbine was a 3 MOA rifle with specific ammo, but was 5 MOA with normal FMJ. But man, that’s a fun rifle and 3 MOA is actually pretty decent for one. Your smith would have had you sell it despite it being a real hoot.

Geezuz I never even knew gunsmiths would zero someone's rifle for them, I thought as crazy as it got was paying a gunsmith to clean your guns for you lol

This (cleaning them) I'm ok with... I wish there were a mobile gun cleaning guy... Hmmm... New biz idea!

I like optics that don’t take batteries in a SHTF scenario, so fiber optics with tritium like ACOGs and Accupoints for LPVOs with good irons for me.
Are Accupoint daylight bright?

I like LPVO to look like a red dot, I hate it when they wash with light.

Not a chance I would ever pay someone to clean my guns, but to each their own.

I'm a shoot them then clean them type of guy except for my beater rifle but modern AR's don't need to be cleaned all that much but if you got a 10k Benelli shotgun or something gay like that then fine pay someone to clean it I guess

I enjoy cleaning.

Standing offer, boys: I’ll shoot anybody’s gun and tell you whether or not it’s crap. The other guys charge $35? I’ll do it for $34.

PM me for details!

There are places that will also do load development for your gun.

I will zero your guns for FREE. Just give me ammo, I will take it to the range and take pics at 100, 200 and 300.

If you buy powder, brass, bullets and primers I will also do your load development for free.

If you ever get the chance check out the Trijicon Creedo, that is brighter than most red dots I've seen not even dialed all the way on high

I have seen a few bad reviews on the Credo. Most say it is not daylight bright.

I have been close to buying a Credo so many times, but I can't bring myself to buying one.

I have no personal experience.

Send someone 15 rifles a year for upgrades, and yes they will fire your guns. I recently sent a Wbp fox to a kalash smith. He called me and asked what I wanted done. My reply was I want a combat gun back, and gave him my requirements on how I want the trigger to feel and what I’m mounting. Also I wanted almost no recoil plus I wear armor, no folder. Then gave my CC and hung up the phone. Let’s see what he does. New gun never fired

I have seen so many bad reviews on the Creedo. Not even C_DOES likes it. When he shows the optic in daylight, it is not daylight bright.

I own one and I think it's great, to the point that it's confusing to me why anyone doesn't like it.

I can PM you some pictures of it on different settings outside during the day and night if you want, just hit me up and I'll try my best.

It's a great optic for 8/900 bucks, it's not a flex on the poor type optic like a NF but solid in my opinion

I think I will order one for my next build. Worse case I can return it.
