I'm not sure that the amount of thoughtfulness and reverence for optics or private property you possess reflects that of the mob.
I think you're overestimating how uncontrollable these groups are.
Large groups of people, such as political protests, demonstrations, strikes, and the like are lead by a handful of individuals. These leading individuals vary from peaceful and amateur event organizers, like the guys who organize pro-2A rallies, to union leaders and semi-professional or fully professional lobbyists, such as the group leaders for Moms Demand Action events (whom I've seen and watched perform headcounts of us/them), to outright agent provocateurs. Once you get away from the more amateur leaders, like pro-2A leaders, these organizing individuals are professionals at what they do and answer to a higher authority.
I believe BLM and Antifa organizers are more on the amateurish level who tend to be involved in various other socialist/communist/leftist/progressive/union movements and groups. Similar to how some pro-2A people are involved in the NRA, GOA, GOP, etc. I ended up looking into who led these groups in the Boston area a couple years ago and that's what I found.
Anyways, the more professional, and by professional I mean "doing this for a job", these organizers are, the more likely that money is being spent by others to trigger these demonstrations. We make the joke that MDA and other protesters walk around asking "when do we get paid?", but sadly, they are rent-a-crowds.
rent-a-mob - Wiktionary
If these groups are being paid, that means they can be controlled and targeted at whoever the buyer wants. The better paid and more organized, the better the control. This has also been going on for millennia, back to ancient Rome and Byzantium.
Nika riots - Wikipedia
If you dig into the history of the Nika riots a bit more, basically, the chariot team supporters doubled as the muscle/rent-a-mob for political factions within Constantinople. Sort of like how the NSDAP had the SA and the Communists had the Roter Frontkampferbund in Weimar Germany. Or, how today, the Democrats have BLM and Antifa and the Republicans have the alt-right protestors.
One really good example of the effectiveness of rented, paid-for protests being used for nefarious purposes is how the CIA and MI6 staged the 1953 overthrow of Mohammad Mosaddegh in Iran:
...
TL: DR, there's a high probability that these protests, riots, demonstrations, looting mobs, etc., are much more controlled than most people think. I don't believe these protests and riots are spontaneous grass root movements at all, based on history and what I've seen myself at gun rallies and legislative hearings.
