Active Shooter Situation in Lewiston Maine

Evasion path:
Lisben boat ramp was a smart stop. Likely no one there this late in season or night, not watched, etc. But people leave vehicles in those lots all the time. It's also next to the river so "maybe boat" is on the table. And it's also right next to a set of train tracks which I don't think is in use which goes right to I295. About 4 miles along those tracks, which section has very little exposure to businesses, roads or houses and is an easy hike, there are a sequence of power line trails which lead basically halfway to anywhere in the damn state. Stash an ATV/UTV or dirt bike there, and it's clear travel right into the back of the Shell parking lot on the 196 ramp of I-295. Then head to Aroostook (likely has a camper stashed up there.)

Was super smart bypassing I-95, as that was likely the first thing locked down.

The more I'm thinking this through, counting ambulances seen (like one in any of the pictures or feeds) the bed capacity reports from the hospitals, the clarification from news media that the 50-60 injured were likely more than not NOT gunshot victims, but injuries like broken toes or cuts and bruises sustained in the panic mob... What do we know?

Notes:
1. Spare time had a kids bowling thing last night. But notice carefully that no one has mentioned at all in the news whether kids were injured or killed. I find that omission... interesting.
2. Maine Valley Pool league meets at the bar'n'grill on Wednesdays nights at the same time.

So if this nut (or cracked nut, or errant arrow off a bow string of a person) was after someone ... specific... Maybe someone took their kids out bowling instead of playing pool. I really want to know which was hit first. The bar, or the Bowling alley?
I believe I saw on fox23 that bowling alley call came in first.

Common misconception. You can carry in bars in Maine (most other states too). Unless posted. And As long as you are not under the influence. Only 15 states have a flat ban, even Ma allows it.*** AS LONG AS NOT DRINKING***
When I go to the local watering hole I’m drinking and not carrying. I’ve been known to drop my gun into the console more than once.

I think he is a US Army firearms instructor. Maine has no say in that job description
I heard on fox earlier that he was still in the NG, I wonder if he could have gotten the rifle from an armory? Sorry if that sounds like a dumb question, I wasnt in the .mil so I have no idea how the accesses to weapons thing works on a base.

Retired FBI agent being interviewed on the local Maine news just said that the reason so many were killed is due to the 30 round magazines that ARs use.

These people have no shame and just can’t wait to start blaming the tool used to carry out these horrific acts.
Brave FBI. Nobody needs 30 round magazines, according to those asswipes. FBI hero Lon Horiuchi certainly didn't. He managed to nail an unarmed woman holding a baby with one shot in the noggin! Now, that's real skill with firearms! We should all learn from his example. As an added bonus, he never got prosecuted either. On the contrary; he got promoted!

Can that be confirmed? I find it ... hard to believe he stayed in until "recently" for his 21 years in service if he'd been arrested and convicted for the age-linked smut thing.
I too find this difficult as i know someone who did a loooong time as a vacation home in kansas for innapropriately touching his girlfriends daughter

But his girlfriend was his commanding officers wife... so that may have played a hand in it

Not really possible in the Guard. Weapons are issued out for training and maneuvers as a unit, not individually. Pretty tight control on their whereabouts.

It's really not an easy task unless you have armory access. They're pretty tightly controlled. The average Joe can't just go check out a rifle. If he did have access, that's a whole big box of problems for the NG right now.

Got it thanks and I believe you but then wasn't there a story a week or two ago about the Army not knowing where a bunch of their shit was?

That guy's effing retarded. How does a delay buying another gun affect a gun owner who already owns guns and suddenly wants to go shoot people? You'd use what you already have. Or wait 3 days. I really doubt he woke up yesterday morning and suddenly decided to do this... its been on his mind for years.
Cause the logic is the waiting period is the "cooling off" period for people who don't already have guns, got triggered all of a sudden and are hyper emotional and wanted to get a gun ASAP so they could kill someone. MAYBE with the cooling off period they'll be in less of a huff n' puff and reconsider their murderous plans.

Best possible news would be that he did use something from the armory. Although those with experience doubt that happened.

Even better news would be that he was denied a sale after being committed, and resorted to stealing from the base.

However, all of this is doubtful. 21 years in the .mil and a firearms instructor, im guessing he maybe had a rifle or 2 in his double wide.

All of this is speculation and means exactly what this coffee is about to produce.
