Here's my Stag model 2, just added an Ace entry stock with a new buffer and spring, UTG 2 piece hand guards, Magpul rail covers, Pro Mag forend grip, and a Bushnell Trophy red dot. Probably going to get a new grip soon too.

I can not wait for this weekend to run a few hundred rounds through this thing. [smile]

Hey Ed did the boatswain do the wrap? I like it.

Thanks guys.

I had an FCC that had a hard on for fancy work. When I was a young 3rd class, he sent me to the boatswains to learn, and then had me do almost everything in tomahawk equip room. It grew on me, and I do it here and there now to make things my own.

I will do a little write up once I can get it to the range and run a few hundred through it (hopefully this weekend). The last match my hold over was killing me at the close range, I will see who long it lasts before I get the itch for a dot. But just playing with it on my back deck, when I rotate the gun, it seems to line right up for me with out moving my face at all.

Yeah, I got hammered on hold over also. I'm going back to open, I picked up a Primary arms green micro with an offset scope mount that so far works very well. It was about $100 shipped. so its a cheap way to go.

I saw the youtube video you did on that dot, it has me interested, as it seems a cheep way to decide if I wanted go that route. I do like the way the C-MORE looks at the spot on the tube though.

But in reality, I have to finish my 930 project. [smile]

Dude that is cool

Ed,
The wrapping looks awesome. The long handguard feels good. I've been going out farther on the hanguard, at least with what little practice I do. As far as holdover for sight offset, practice will give you speed. I've told Mike that too.[grin]
I've not been thrilled with the JP sight on the handguard, the sight radius is too short, and the position doesn't seem optimum. I do like the looks of this set up though.

Thanks Dan.

I saw those on a facebook post the other day, it is a cool idea. I happened to find the JP sight for cheap so I figured I would give it whirl.

Nice Ed, I'm digging the XL handguard. You're going to love the combination of lightened carrier, adjustable gas block and that brake.

I got to rip a quick, and I mean quick, 200 rounds through it today. All I can say is WOW, this thing is fast. [smile] The combination of the JP XL tube and the lowpro adjustable block is awesome. With one of those round tipped allen keys, that let you use them at an angle, I was able to adjust the gas block with the tube installed. It took me 9 rounds to find the sweet spot on the gas block, then I saw the reasoning for the lightened carrier, rifle length gas system, this very effective comp, and adjustable block. This rifle does not move under recoil.

I'd like to hear what you think of the JP Iron sights

While I was not really pushing it the way I would in a match, I liked the sight. It looks as though it would be hard to get the top of the post to line up right giving a proper sight picture, but I did not find that. As I rolled the rifle from the scope to the short sight, it lined up fine. I can see what Dan is saying about the short sight radius being an issue on shots out past 10 or so yards, but being up close, I was able to get a sight picture and rip off multiple shots pretty fast. I know I would be faster with a dot mounted there instead, but this works for now. IMO, I need to work on getting faster at everything else first.

My dad was with me, he didn't get was so special about the rifle. Then after my first mag he asked me when I got my MG license. [laugh] Then he shot it and was amazed at the lack of recoil. Of course, his only experience is with mil issued M4's. To say I am happy with this rifle is an understatement and a half. [smile]

Awesome. Its amazing how smooth they shoot. Are you using a JP or Firebird Gas block? A Standard rifle buffer or a lightened buffer?
I was shooting my .22 Nordic yesterday, then took a few shots with the Firebird. The only difference was it was louder.

Thanks!

The lower is actually my first AR lower, I put it together a few years ago. I had a friend assemble the upper, he did the BCG lightening for me.
