Bodyguard 2.0

I have been carrying a 380 pistol every day for years. The Diamondback 380 is my favorite pocket 380. It’s incredibly reliable for a cheap pocket pistol. I have found with the right holsters however that I can carry my Glock 42 just about as easily as the DB no matter how I am dressed…So the G42 is my EDC and it’s much more pleasant to shoot than any pocket 380 I ever had
The DB is very tiny. But like you said it's not pleasant to shoot.

The G42 is so nice to shoot that I started reloading .380 for it. Prior to that I had shot about 800 rounds through my LCP in 7 years. With the 42, I was burning through 150 rounds each range trip. But like I said above, it was too big to be an "always" gun.

By an "always" gun, I mean something small and light enough to wear in sweats when I'm at home or in gym shorts if I'm out running.

The Kahr and the diamond back are that small. Though I'm pretty sure the Kahr shoots better.

No matter what anyone says, there IS a place for a gun the size of the Diamond Back or the Kahr, or the P3AT or even the Seecamp 380. All are so tiny there is no excuse not to carry.

The Max, and Bodyguard 2.0 are a bit larger, mainly in width and weight. (partly because a loaded gun holds 11 rounds not 7). The Glock is a step up from there.

I did do a 5k with a Glock 42 in gym shorts…. I have a soft leather IWB holster with a steel clip that I use for shorts/sweats and a kydex holster that I use whenever I have jeans or pants with a belt…..these are what works for me

That's great. So much of this is all very personal.

I am a wuss when it comes to weight. I used to own a Kahr PM9, the smallest and lighter "non exotic" 9mm you can buy. And it was still too heavy for pocket carry for me. Especially in dress pants. In jeans it was oKI.

So I started carrying it IWB. But if I'm carrying IWB, then carrying a P9 is no harder. Then the P365 came out and that became my IWB gun.

I stopped at Harvard Sportsmen for the breakfast this morning and brought my Bodyguard.

I shot plates at 20 ish feet and the gun shot great. Like many reviewers said it actually does shoot a bit to the left. I'll drift the sight over this week.
I'll be up in NH one day and can literally sight in the gun off my back porch.

I shot:
50 rounds of factory FMJ with no failures.
20 rounds of Fiocchi Extrema XTP hollow points (loaded with Hornady XTP bullets) with no failures.
75 rounds of my underpowered FMJ reloads with only 1 failure to extract. I can't blame the gun for this. Like an idiot I made up 500 rounds of handloads based on their reliability in only one gun. My LCP max and my P380 Kahr only cycle about 25%, So I'm actually pretty thrilled that I've found a gun I can burn through these in.

Overall, I'm very happy. The slide has smoothed out significantly as has the trigger. Kahr and Les Baer are the only ones who actually will tell you that their guns need a break in period. Regardless. Almost all semi autos run better after they've had a couple hundred rounds through them.

What about a G43X?

I had one, too big for a pocket gun. Sold it unfired.

I also had and sold a G43 (and a G42) and usually carry a P365

I also have a G48, G26, G19, Seecamp etc...

I guess I like to rotate guns, lol

ETA: added the G42.

So, you think I should get one now?

Does it have a Massachusetts 10lb trigger?
Nope. Somehow I have a non safety version with an ok trigger

I’m sure the safety versions have a similar ok trigger. I’d have not bought it if the trigger was total crap.

I think it’s worth trying one out.

This is the closest to a roster gun for me in forever.

It's not even a comparison. The Bodyguard 2.0 blows away the LCP Max. I have two LCP Max's, the Custom, The LCP2 and the LCP original. I can't fathom trying to take someone who shoots an LCP Max and then immediatly shoots a BG2 and then tells me "The LCP Max is better" as someone being truthful. It's not like a "Oh I like Glock Grip angles vs 1911 grip angles". It's a "This gun is extremely accurate, easy to shoot and doesn't recoil" vs an LCP that is not accurate, has a shitty trigger and the recoil is painful. I specifically use the LCP Max as an example to new shooters as to why smaller guns suck to shoot and as a preparation as to why they shouldn't be afraid of my bigger guns. I can't do this with the Bodyguard 2.0. It doesn't suck to shoot.
I have owned an LCP and currently own a Max and a Shield 2.0. The Shield is a better gun.

The Max can be had for about $100 less. That matters to some people.

What about a G43X?

Too big for a pocket gun for me and MUCH larger overall.

I can't believe I'm considering this.

I am a Glock Aficionado.

However, a gun is only good if you always carry it.

The Bodyguard 2.0 is much smaller than a G43 and would go nice in a pocket with an Alabama Holster.

I blame @chris_1001 for my transgressions.

Happy to help!

For once I get to repay you! Enjoy, I think for the $ its an OK gun.

Let me know what you think if you get one.

I have lots of glocks, so I'm comfortable recommending this.

Yeah I agree, the Shield is too big to pocket carry and the LCP is too inaccurate to be worth the price (now). With the BG 2.0 being pocketable and as accurate as a regular M&P out to 20 yards. It's the new gold standard for pocket carry guns. The price doesn't matter. If you're worried about the gun that saves your life being $300 or $400. Then you're not ready for the $50,000 in lawyer fees associated with a self defense shooting.

I recently acquired one. Put around 60 rounds thru it so far. Shot some FMJ and some Speer Gold Dots. Wanted one for pocket carry, and after watching some video reviews I decided I wanted one. Ran flawlessly, trigger is excellent! Sights leave a little to be desired as the rear notch is really wide! But then again this isn’t a target pistol. Rear sight needed to be adjusted as it was shooting left by a couple inches. Hands down a ton nicer than the original version which I did own for a short time. Think of it as a mini shield. It looks like there is a compliant version in the works, with 10 round mags and a thumb safety.
The rear sight is not good. The dovetail is compatible with the Bodyguard 1.0 and the Ruger LCP Max rear sights.. The 1.0 rear sight is a vast improvement for cheap money. I'll probably get a set of Truglos when they are released in a year or so.

I can't imagine why YOU would need to replay me!

I did some research on Glock Talk...

They all love this gun!

I know you are a Glock guy so that means a lot.

Glocks just don't come this small!!!

Lol dude it's ok to like other brands. 🤣

The best part about this gun is it's not nearly as shitty as the original one is.

True, but some manufacturers still submit extremely specific SKUs for the roster.
Doesn't matter at all even if the manufacturer is f***ing retarded it should still fall under the substantially similar clause. Regardless there's little to no chance of somebody getting whacked for this so sucking for compliant garbage is kind of pointless. Like I don't know why somebody would really want a broken gun out of the box if they can just drive around it.

@PappyM3 it does make me wonder how f***ing stupid some of these attorneys are that work for these gun companies they don't realize they're not helping by putting a SKU. Sig is also notorious for having stupid f***ing model numbers instead of just getting the base model listed on the roster like everyone else does.

My godson and his wife went to S&W in Tennessee and shot the bodyguard 2.0 quite a lot. Stav loved the Glock 42 and Mac had a Ruger LCP but I think the bodyguard 2.0 has become their new favorite 380.

I bought one a couple of weeks ago and have put 300 rounds through it already. It's worked flawlessly so far with the exception of failing to lock back after the last round on several occasions...but I know that it's my fault for riding the slide with my thumb and coming in contact with the slide release. But I find it a lot more comfortable to shoot and I'm more accurate when I do ride the slide, so I'm torn.

As others have mentioned, mine also shoots to the left, and I can see that the rear sight isn't quite centered. I have a sight pusher that's too large to use with this tiny gun, but just ordered a couple of sight drift punches which should do the trick. XS Sights makes some tritium sights for this gun, which look nice, but are somewhat pricey: R3D 2.0 Night Sights - Smith and Wesson

Oh, and I also bought a Hogue HandALL, along with the Lakeline pinky extension, both of which make a big difference. I also want to order an Alabama pocket holster for it, which seems to be a favorite of many owners.
