Yeah I like Dan Brown, too. Read both Angels & Demons and The DaVinci code. Also read Digital Fortress, which isn't focused on the same guy but is still a page turner.
Kind of worried what Tom Hanks is going to be like in the lead role. I never once pictured the character looking like Tom Hanks. He's too goofy. More like a Sean Connery or Pierce Brosnan role to me.

Yeah - I'm kind of worried about the movie...that's gonna be a tough book to remain true to, so I imagine they'll do some changing. Movies are NEVER as good as the book is. I'd rather see Tom Hanks with the lead instead of Tom Cruise tho.

Lynne, I agree with you 100% there! Hollyweird always dumbs down the plot for the unwashed masses (or what they perceive to be the unwashed) and always has to add lots of car chases and explosions. Some of these movies, if it wasn't for the special FX, they'd be half the length!

'Course, some movies, you do need the FX - like Fantastic Four, for example. I'll give them that. But Mr & Mrs Smith (Pitt and Jolie) was hysterical for the scripting and the byplay between the two leads! 'Course, some of those effects made me laugh even louder... like shooting two handed and not even aiming - and hitting what they "aimed" for. Great movie in spite of the silliness of the FX.

Angels and demons

I have heard a lot about angels and demons. I think that I am going to read it.

Also, I went home last night and looked at my copy of net force turns out I am reading the last one State of War.

Like my older brother always said read if you don't have time to read the whole book read the first and the last chapter and you should be okay. It got me through Undergrad and I hope it will get me through my Masters this Fall.

I have seen a couple that are. A River Runs Through It followed the book almost to the letter. And, I haven't Seen Sahara but from the people that I've spoken to, it's very close. And from some of my friends that are Burton fans, they said that Charlie and the Chocolate Factory was dead on. And Naked Lunch was really close as well.

But I do agree, for the most part, they don't really follow the books too well. But I think that when the author gets involved with the movie. It's a different storty.

I can only think of 3 movies I've seen that really stood up to the book.

Shawshank Redemption, Mystic River & Stand By Me. Although, Shawshank Redemption and Stand By Me were both actually short stories.

I still need to read The DiVinci Code, I've read Angels & Demons and had trouble putting that one down.

Trust me - you won't be able to put down The DC. I read it in two days. (I am a fast reader, but still, it's a good sized book)

I read all kinds of stuff from Heinlein, Niven, and Asimov to Rand, Ross, and Cooper.

Different books mean different things to me. Into Thin Air and Into the Wild were amazing tru life stories. As was Lance Armstrong's "I's not about the bike" and a hard to find title called "The falling Season" about Aspen Search and Rescue.

I like the Harry Potter series too. (^_^)

My absolute favorites are 1950-1960 sci-fi short stories. Been sad growing up watching one bad movie after another made from very good short stories that most people never heard of.

I also search hard to find oddball books by well known authors. One of my favoite such books is a very early printing of Jules Verne's Master of the World. Also came across a first edition of Treasure Island just sitting on a used bookstore shelf. Not in great shape, but well worth the $5 I paid.

And for Computers, I continually find Petzold's books worth the money.
