Harvard Sportsmen's Club

I know we have a 'We're not your mother' sign on the 7/10/25 but
maybe we can waste some $ and put them over EACH lane.

Whomever was on 7/10 yesterday morning left a sh*t ton of crappy 22LR bass
all over the place.

I'm practicing my 'grumpy old man' :D

Just go to the Back 40 range while someone is starting to sight in a larger caliber at the 25....or shooting a DEagle at the 7/10. The roof over the Back 40 gets sprayed with dirt and rocks and you can hear it hit the roof.

For fun you need to go over to Hopkinton Sportsmen and park your car on the left hand side of the rifle range on a Sunday morning. The way the Skeet/Trap field is situated birdshot makes it to the rifle range. Especially after all the leaves fall. It's like hail is hitting your car non stop. Luckily your under cover at the firing line or that would be interesting.

I was shooting in one of the action pits yesterday and noticed that the side berms were getting a bit low in some places. Who is in charge of evaluating the berms? I realize that refreshing the action pit berms is not a small undertaking…
which one?

RANGE CLOSURE. The 100-yard range will be closed during the fishing derby, even though shooters don't park at the pond and shoot in the opposite direction. The 7/10-yard range is closed every time there's a .22 match at the 50, even though there's a wall between them. I was told by a cowboy to stop shooting at the machinegun range because I was ruining the atmosphere at their match. Is all this about noise? Guess what boys and girls. Guns make noise. If people don't like noise, maybe they should stop shooting and take up golf.

Rifles are loud and the range is very close to the pond. I'm perfectly ok with not shooting at the 100 for one day if it means that a few dozen kids can have a fun day outdoors. This was scheduled months in advance so it shouldn't be hard to plan around.

Don't know. One of the competitors.
Ok Gerry, help me understand this ! a guy with one of those ping ping cowboy guns came to a guy with a machine gun in his hand and said he did not like the noise !!!!! tell him to get a life and clean the dust off his cowboy hat...

That's exactly what happened. I was standing there with a Thompson in my hands. Maybe they could have pretended it was a Gatling Gun.
The other ones I think are fairly reasonable; kids doing stuff where they're either not wearing ear protection or where a braked rifle is going to seriously interfere with competition.

This one is bonkers to the point where I can't even imagine what he was thinking. They're not even close by.

Did they annouce the cannon class, did I miss it in an email?
It ended up being less of a seminar and more of a demo / info session if you wanted to get involved and eventually get a cannon license. Essentially, 20 hours of hands on training (actually working with the cannons not class sessions) join the group and then one of the guys would sign off as the referral.

It wasn’t a class..they were just using that range. I believe @Rocky Mosasaurus spoke to them about getting the cannon license. That might be because he flexed for them and they figured they should talk to him.

Exactly, nice guys! No flexing necessary, thankfully!

So they didnt make you bench press the cannons?

I'd love to have one of those cannons. It would be expensive to shoot but the looks I'd get towing it behind my truck would be priceless.

There must be a size of the cannon determined for the license. Otherwise there are a lot of "illegals" that participated in the NES Cannon purchase several years back. They were really nice!

Lol, no there isn't. Although there was at least one other member here and myself discovered a loophole you could actually have driven a bus through. It has to do with the way that the cannon is described. (Carriage, etc. )

Also as somebody else says, technically you really only need that license to fire it legally.
