Lets talk about Bayonets. What's your thoughts on getting period correct Bayos for your rifles?

Picked up a Japanese Arisaka (type 2) paratrooper rifle years ago. The bayonet goes for about $1500.
Think a type 30 Arisaka bayonet but cut down and markers mark on the spine vs ricasso. Been searching for a bargin for years.

Have lots of Milsurps and most with original or repo bayonets. Planning on making a fancy display rack at some point.

First thing I did with my first Norinco was pull that extra #$%^ weight off it

Yeah for historically correct collectibles I see, practicality no

I strive to have a bayonet for my surplus rifles and clones, but I'm not complete yet.

I still need to locate a reliable source for period correct bayonets for my M-14 clone and M1 Carbine.
Thanks to @Rockrivr1 for this thread and for spurring me to get the bayonets I was missing.

Ended up with reproductions, but they fulfill my wants.

Years ago - like 1980 or 81 - a friend of mine gives me a bayonet as a gift. (in the crowd we were running with at the time, a gift of a knife is basically saying "You're my brother". We're still best friends 45 years later and he's been my best man twice.). I don't have a rifle for it, but hey. It's a gift, and I keep it through the years and cherish it.

Fast forward to 2005 when I find NES. Couple of years later, probably sometime in 2007, Scrivener posts that he's got a Springfield M-1 for sale. CMP gun, 1953, all Springfield. (y'all would scream if I told you what I paid for it, so I won't.) I buy it. Nice gun... I like it. I named her Betsy and take her to my first Appleseed Shoot.

Some time later, I remember the bayonet Fitz gave me and start wondering if it'll fit... lo and behold, it's the RIGHT bayonet for that late an M1!!!

Sometimes the universe works in amazing ways. I still have both rifle and bayonet.

For anyone out there looking for bayonets I've run into @moparmatt383 who has a slew of surplus bayos for sale. I've picked up some really nice ones from him. So far I've picked up a 1917, 1942, Krag and K98K from him. The 1942 still had the grease on it.

I have bayonets for many of my military rifles but supposedly only the Mosin is more accurate with the bayonet than without. I shot mine both ways and though the group shifted to the side, the group size remained the same.

Nothing says "GET OFF MY LAWN!" like a M1 with a bayonet.

Nothing says "I don't know shit about gun safety"..... like pointing a rifle at my buddy with the action closed and my finger on the trigger" to take a picture.

And that is not an m1.

I think it’s a cool thing to collect especially era specific for particular weapon.
I’ve misplaced my bayonet for my AR. I’m curious where it is.

I like them for stabbing in the ground to hold your rifle

Anyone else down this rabbit hole. What have you found so far?
Yep, I am.
I have a bayo for pretty much every surplus rifle I have, with very few exceptions which are a Fiskars and/or Hackmann bayo for the Finnish Nagant rifles.
That gap could be filled soon due to a club member and bayo collector unfortunately suffering lung cancer in the final stadium, just a matter of weeks.
I will likely have to assist in selling off his collection of 200-300 bayos and his .22 rifle and .357 revolver.

My neighbor had a pile of junk on his basement floor and in this pile was a Japanese sword and a bayonet. The bayonet was for a type 99 Arisaka which I have. He sold it to me for 25 bucks and gave the sword to my son. It turns out the sword was made by a well known swordsmith who lived in Hiroshima. I have no idea what happened to him after the bomb was dropped.

I would have preferred WWII bayos for my M1 Garands, but didn't put in a ton of effort and just picked up some Korean war era ones for them.
