Yes- is there another fact/numbers-backed method of determining? I am not aware of it if any.

Like the lege writing this bill, you consider yourself qualified to tell others what they should value.

If we start from base principles (i.e., "all men are born free") we realize there's nothing to determine. They should be free to decide "can I swing $250 for this used Taurus, $20 for ammo to fill it, and $20 to lock it up*?" That's barely more than the top-line cost of license and class today - so you're comfortable doubling the cost of entry simply because it presents no hardship to you

* assuming they want to

I just phoned to ask that the vote on the bill be delayed until a public hearing can be held.

Before I got a word out, the person who answered the phone said, "You're calling about the gun bill, and you want the vote delayed until a public hearing can be held."

I said, "You're a mind reader."

"What town do you live in, and what is your name?"

I followed that up with an email to Karen.Spilka@masenate.gov and to the senator in whose district I live asking for the same.

We should probably focus our energy on this today, and get back to arguing on Saturday.
Just went to voicemail for me. But i left a message and will call again

. I thought this was quite obvious due to the fact that none of us in this thread have -one- or -no- guns due to financial constraints.
I was going to make a statement about this comment, but after walking away from the keyboard for a while I realized it's just not worth it.
And before you or anyone else makes the asinine "go green" comment, look at my join date. I was green for years until this year due to financial constraints. Paul

Item 3 is questionable. The senate bill added assembled or manufactured as reasons to tell the FRB. The current law is purchase or obtain. I personally believe that manufacturing or assembling from a lower or frame does NOT require informing the state. That they are amending the law to now add the words assemble or manufacture tells me they agree.
First off, you're a treasure, Randy - love your posts. Second, is there any case law about this? Just curious.

Coming at a liberal senator complaining about your loss of gun rights is the wrong approach. As soon as they figure out that you're deplorable they shut down.
I always start with. Why felons being arrested with full auto glocks and that is rhe first charge that is dropped. Existing laws on the books would have dealt with 99% of the gun issues in this state if enforced and prosecuted and convicted

I was more about the “do you have any idea how much this is going to cost the state in litigation?” The state has already been told in Bruen that this law is not constitutional. I told them the state is already broke and now they will be looking for more money from working people who are the ones they took the rights from in the first place. It’s hard for them to see that from their ivory tower.

I've contacted everyone! My kids, on their own, asked to be involved with the Pro-2A fight as well. Very proud of them!

I call and email every time...both my sen and rep are 2A pros and Republican and speaking to the choir who can't do much about it but vote uphill

Calling Spilka or whatever her name is an get the boilerplate BS. But I do it.

I think this is a very good approach... if they will listen. 🤔
I was more about the “do you have any idea how much this is going to cost the state in litigation?”
They don't care. It is a badge of honor to these leftists to spend your tax money to fight against your rights.

one of these days, @Admin is going to change your user name to "not that chris" (or maybe just add it as flair)
I will never be sure that he's not that Chris. Could easily be a shape shifter and underneath the Chris that you see there is another Chris, hiding, plotting, patiently waiting to knock on your door when you're closed. Chrisception.

You act as though there’s no such thing as a circuit split. Nothing is “informative” to the anti-2A judges here in the 1st Circuit. We already had a judge here in MA go against Benitez’s opinion on common use and uphold the MA gun ban (NAGR v.Campbell). We will get no relief here until SCOTUS intervenes.
Other than trying to be dismissive and derogatory, what's your point.

Of course I know about circuit splits - the issue at hand is there very likely will never be a split since those circuits that would throw out an AWB are circuits where the states would never enact one.

What we need is for a case to actually reach a final verdict in its circuit so that it is ripe to go to SCOTUS - right now the 9th keeps ping-ponging the Benitez cases around in order to delay them from becoming ripe.

And Capen (NAGR) v Campbell was at Preliminary Injunction and is not a final ruling.

Oh!......this will be my first sentence at the next meeting.

Are so and so PD a member of MCOPA? If so......we need to revoke their right to train here right here and right now!

They do not stand with us, we do not give them a place to shoot and tell them why.

Sending an email right now to put it on the agenda.
This - every club in Mass should refuse any request to use the club for LEO training

The Senate just dropped their version of the gun grab bill.

"An Act to sensibly address firearm violence through effective reform"

We are looking at it now and will have more to say shortly.
I have been writing letters especially to the person in charge of the Senate will keep letter sending more today. I have a bad back and use a cane so don’t get out much but still value my rights even if at home.

Oh, agreed. I am not saying that the handgun roster is good although to be honest as long as the competition pistols are allowed having a pistol roster really only bothers me on 2A principle .
Ahh so our rights are subject to your pleasure
My observation was towards the poster that said Glocks will be (again) unobtainable to which I mused that Glocks are on the roster and most likely not going anywhere. That is all.

On a separate note - A sub-$300 pistol? Why on Earth would you want to subject yourself to such? :p
There was a time in my life where $300 was very significant - and I know a lot of younger people for whom it's likely all they could spend and still have enough to grab a decent holster and enough ammo for light levels of practice.
But screw them for being poor - reinstitute poll taxes!

The only reason regular people can get glocks today is because of frame transfers. When that goes away, you are all screwed.
At the end of the day, access to Glocks is the LEAST of our worries. Who gives a sh!t about Glocks when everything is on the line?
There are plenty of other handguns 100% as good available in MA. Stop focusing on one brand, people. (not a Glock hater, but obviously not a fanboy either - more of a couldn't give a rat's bunghole about them).
