No my brother thinks yugo 59/66 rifles are inaccurate, the grenade launcher looks stupid, and he has got a list 5 pages long of things against them. He also thinks 200.00 dollars is to much to pay for one. I wil definitly look into a Yugo 59.
Bring him to Rochester and have him shoot my newer 59/66 models opposed to my standard Norincos and Russians which cost me more than a clean 59/66. Its no secret that the grenade launcher helped protect the muzzle crowns of these rifles from cleaning rod wear when and if the Yugoslavian soldiers cleaned their rifles in the field. Plus the fact that most were never issued or fired is another bonus for collectors wanting a mint bore on an SKS.
To discount Yugo 59/66 SKS types amongst the others is like having a muscle car collection and hating GTO models.
I bought the dedicated upper from a guy on gunbroker.com. The upper is carbon. It uses a modified Ciener and the barrel is .22 and has a 1:16 twist.Nice Jon, where did you get the upper from? I had been thinking of doing the Ciener but I've heard some horror stories about leading the gas tube shut. Plus the sights will be way off with it anyway.
