This looks pretty nice. Multi caliber capable. Ambidextrous configurable. From reading thru some of the comments on M4Carbine.net and AR15.com - it's supposed to be very reliable.

Did a search here on NES and couldn't find any hits at all - I can't believe I'm the first one in on this.

Depending on who you listen to - this is going to come in at a good price point - $1200-$1500, but I've also read that it could be $2K

I want one.

It will be $2K if it ever winds up in the states and the touted caliber exchange feature will be non-existent.

Basically a proprietary AR like the bushmaster ACR.

ok, inquiring minds want to know... how fast would a mag change be in that beast with an AK mag? how do you rock one of those bitches up in there?

also... I. WANT. ONE.

i don't even know why. i just do. oh god. how much is it? shut up and take my money.

Until someone introduced a new multi-caliber platform that supports 9mm, .223 and .308, I'm not going to be impressed by the "multi-caliber" tag-line.

Introduce a common modular design that allows mission applicable selection of all three standard rounds for close combat, general purpose and ranged interdiction and I'll be impressed. Combine that with the ability to utilize both removable box magazines and belted ammunition and you'll have the multi-role platform that our military needs.

It's not a proprietary AR... it's a completely different design that is the standard issue rifle of the Italian Army. The only similarity is the caliber and the STANAG magazine.

look at all those evil features.......a shoulder thingy, an evil hip firing pistol grip, and the oh so dangerous flash suppressor........ Im scared

Its pretty bad*** looking and even if the only 2 different configs were 5.56 and 7.62x39 its still nice

The problem with that is the three calibers you mentioned are very far apart in size. I think Colt now has an AR platform out that will accomodate .308 and .223 - but you've got to swap out mag wells and other pieces. Past a certain point - when you've swapped out half the components in the gun - to me it's a "why bother" - just get another gun.

From what I remember reading at least three of the calibers that this Beretta is supposedly going to support are : .223, 7.62x39 - and 5.45x39, I there were one or two others - but I don't recall what they were.

Standard AR-15s already support all those calibers and many more with direct upper swaps, so yeah, not impressed by the "multiple caliber" tag-line.

And colt's solution to grind off the magwell and use bolt-on magwells to change calibers didn't impress me either.

Swapping out a barrel - is a more advanced solution than having to swap an entire upper.

It's not clear how the Beretta handles the different mag types - the pics don't make it look like there is mag well change.

Yes............The new beretta rifle looks to much like FN SCAR

Kind of like if two cousin Scars had babies....

I would not see my self paying more then $400 for that...

Just found this review on Guns and Ammo for the Beretta ARX100. They're quoting an MSRP of $1950, so once things settle down, I would imagine you could pick one up in the $1800's.

What's not to like? It's a gas-piston setup with ambi controls, a 5 1/2lb trigger, a monolithic rail, a light, polymer shell, and Beretta is claiming multi-caliber support out of the gate, including 7.62x39 and 5.45x39.

Meh.

I built my AR, with Eotech for $1450. It isn't piston or ambi but it was $650 less, which means $650 to spend on ammo and mags for the same price. Or I could go out and buy a piston AR from Ruger for about $1100-$1200 and with Eotech still have $500-$600 for ammo and mags.

IMHO, if I'm am going to spend $2000 on a rifle, its gonna be for a "Battle Rifle," which means .308 caliber. So an M1A or AR-10.

Been watching this for a while. It is fully ambi- nothing to change out just move charging handle and set to eject left or right. It has a very nice proven piston system. Barrel changes are quick IIRC. I think it is a bit bulky through the middle (but so am I) and is a battle rifle used by militaries. Nicer than a SCAR IMHO. Good for collecting, not as universal as an AR, what is?, but even more killy looking.

If I had any extra money and lived in a free state I wouldn't mind having one for the collection.

Looks kinda ghey. You'll have to wait years for aftermarket accessories.

Nah, it's just Italian. Metrosexual is the new hotness, even in battle rifles.

Given the multiple caliber support, including 7.62x39, I'd say it qualifies as a "Battle Rifle". I already have an LR-308 that eats dollars out of my wallet faster than my wife and kids combined. An accurate, ergonomic, modern shooter that is cheap to shoot with AK ammo and can easily swap back to 5.56 seems like a winner to me. It's the promise of the SCAR and ACR that never materialized for civilians...
