Nighthawks!

Is a Nighthawk worth 4 grand? That's a very subjective question. You'll get many answers but the only one that matters is yours. My question is: Does it have all the features you want and none that you don't? For that amount of money, I'd speak with someone who builds 1911s and see what it would cost to get exactly what I want.

Well.. you won't know if you like it until it's yours. Buy it. Put it in the safe.
5 years from now, when you go to the range, if it's what you grab first, then it was meant to be!
Otherwise it's a future safe queen.

i suspect that absolute majority of those who spend $4k on a gun do it only to keep it in the box, unfired, forever, until it rusts and their descendants will throw it straight into the garbage.

Get a full size 1911. Anything shorter than 5” is not worth the effort.
Exactly! As exemplified by my custom Caspian .45ACP. I found the box with all of the paperwork for this baby while doing some organizing this weekend. I didn't realize that I had this built in 2003. I picked every part and my gun-plumber in Texas worked his magic fitting, polishing, and hand bluing this heirloom quality pistol.

It has some honest holster wear as it has been my primary match gun for the past 20+ years

As classic as the cherry bomb in the 🚽 with a great serial number.

That's what she said.

I love a quality 1911. If I had FU money, I'd probably buy a couple of safe queens. If I was a devoted bullseye shooter, I would spend what it took to be competitive. As it is, I will put my $400 Citadel up against any $1k-2k-4k gun when it comes to reliability feeding any ammo from any magazine, and accuracy at defensive ranges.

Cheap guns are fine for defensive ranges, but when you get out to 25-100 yards, the difference between a $1k and $4k gun is obvious. I’ve bench rested a Springfield 1911 and gotten 3” groups at 50 feet (max distance at indoor range), but switching to a $2k and $5k gun, the holes are touching. The $5k gun isn’t 5 times better, but the accuracy increase of a custom gun is huge. I can hit plates at 100 yards with my offhand, but I bet that Springfield can’t even hit a plate at 50 yards.

That’s why we have rifles

Selling my POS 10mm at a $1000 loss was the happiest I’ve ever been. 800 rounds in and still wouldn’t run 100 round without locking back on a full mag. Went back to Nighthawk 3 times and they did - nothing.

They can catch fire and burn down for all I care, F them

Don’t care to spend $5k on a gun

$5k for a paperweight that requires a background check is pretty stupid

On a siightly more serious note 1911 bulleye competitions regularly got out to 25/50 yards which Nighthawks are suited for.
The $4000 nighthawk the OP posted looks like it may be a bargain, I just speced a T4 officers model with a base price of $4100 on their website and after a few must have options I was almost at $5000 (maybe a bit over) though It’s worth the extra to get it the way you want. And no it doesn’t appear as if you save money by going with the smaller officer model lol. Any way I’m of to buy lottery tickets 🤣

I disagree, sure, many are weird gun petters, the rest are likely shooting the absolute piss out of them.

They increased their prices in late 2022 by 25% across the board. Pretty greedy and turn off to me.

There is a huge used market where they sell for $3000-3500 generally.
