I'll play. I have a number of 1911s but this is one of my favorites (and my off duty gun) - it is a Clark Customs "Meltdown" Colt 1991A1 Compact. It was in dire need of refinishing so I decided to go all out. I had the rollmarks removed from the slide, the front strap hand checkered, S&A checkered MSH fitted, 11deg muzzle crown and the barrel polished, sights bead blasted and a brass insert in front sight, and the whole gun bright polished and blued. The stag grips finished it off.

I know what you mean....just do it!!!! You will never see 1911's like the last two he put up, at least not here in MA....and I will be within spitting distance of his place tomorrow
