You are right about the spending shock but I consider these guns an investment and wouldn't buy them if bills etc were more urgent. This pistol as well as the Wilson Tactical Elite are just amazing and extremely accurate and FUN to shoot........no regrets at all and if the brown truck does it's job today then the last 1911 of this year will be in my safe tomorrow......stay tuned

I'll play. I have a number of 1911s but this is one of my favorites (and my off duty gun) - it is a Clark Customs "Meltdown" Colt 1991A1 Compact. It was in dire need of refinishing so I decided to go all out. I had the rollmarks removed from the slide, the front strap hand checkered, S&A checkered MSH fitted, 11deg muzzle crown and the barrel polished, sights bead blasted and a brass insert in front sight, and the whole gun bright polished and blued. The stag grips finished it off.

Yup and there are plenty even more expensive. I myself am perfectly happy with my $1800 STI and thought that was expensive but at least it looks unique with the full dust cover and no doubt shoots better than I can. $4500 and it comes with crappy slotted screws for the grips......I don't get it
