One more, O'Rourke Leather pancake for M&P9. Bar none the best pancake I have ever used. Better than Tucker, for sure.

You have any issues carrying that full size Jose? I have a IWB holster for mine and its sorta a pain in the ass. Would you recommend something outside the waist band?

i thought rock island handguns were non compliant

Doesn't matter if it's compliant or not, it's still LEGAL to own (and carry) in MA. Over the past several years I've carried various makes and models of handguns which most certainly were not compliant.

What would happen if you were arrested and they looked into it? Sure you can get away with it but if the law wanted to bust your chops they could probably use that against you.

Use what against you? There is absolutely nothing wrong with possessing or carrying a firearm that is not on the EOPS list or doesn't have the blessing from the AG. The laws apply only to the dealer.

Got my belt in finally took about 60 days.....

But I strongly suggest a REAL belt for anyone that carries on a belt... NIGHT/DAY difference..... I feel like an idiot now for carrying on a "normal" belt.....

I just got a dual layer from beltman with no "extra's" great stuff. not to fast in the order placed to delivered department but GREAT product.

Do not get the kydex insert. I carry a 4" S&W N frame (44 Magnum) on my dual layer Beltman belt with no need for any stiffeners in the belt.

There speaketh someone who doesn't know the law. The only person who can possibly get in trouble for a "non-compliant" handgun is an FFL who sells one. There is NOTHING IN THE LAW that prevents me from owning a non-compliant handgun OR selling it. Now, an FFL gets fined $5000 for selling a non-compliant handgun... but that's the ONLY person who can get in trouble for this.

You might want to post less and read more, especially in the legal forum. [wink]

Where did the stinkin' camera get to. I just had it in my hands 2 minutes ago [angry]

My carry rig (so far):

Gerber "Diesel" multi-tool (like this) in pouch on sturdy leather belt

No gun yet, license hasn't come yet [crying]

In purse:

Tin with mini-survival kit
LED flashlight (2)
little metal pill container w/backup medication
cheap-o compass/emergency whistle
Smith's "pocket pal" knife sharpener (like this)
firestarter stone
Leatherman "micra"
analgesics
matches & twine for tinder in old pill bottle (waterproof)

(I'm ready should the zombies attack [smile])

Other misc. odds & ends- pen, brush, etc etc. and of course the wallet w/checkbook & etc. I also have a larger pocketknife somewhere, generally it goes in the purse or clipped to my jeans/skirt.

Yes it's a Kahr MK9 and the holster is made by UBG holsters. I think the model was canute. Absolutely awesome holster.

I'll let you know what I think of it - mine just arrived yesterday.

Is that the same K9 in the pocket holster? What holster is that, and if it's not the K9, what is the gun?

Here's the other thing I always carry, forgot about it-

photo387.jpg

It is an older model of a Casio Baby-G. Shock resistant, waterproof, solar-powered, radio-syncs the time/date with an atomic clock somewhere in the Midwest. Has analog face plus digital time/date, stopwatch, battery indicator. It also has a light for the face and a mode where you can set the light to turn on when you shift the watch (handy at night.) Love that watch!

Is the gun bothering you or is the holster? I ask because some IWB holster designs can irritate the living crap out of me. I've tried IWB holsters from K&D Holsters and Tucker Gunleather and I have either returned them or retired them all. Their design, with a wider leather surface near the bottom for attaching the bottom of the plastic clips, dug into my thigh/abdomen area something fierce. Only when I started carrying in IWB holsters made like this:

where there is very little leather to the sides down towards the muzzle, did my comfort improve. When I carry my M&Ps IWB I use a Comp-Tac CTAC (the only IWB tuckable that I find comfortable and actually works). I am currently waiting on another holster like the one above from Lobo Gunleather for my M&P. Once I have it I will have comfortable leather IWBs for my K frames, N frames (shown), and M&Ps.

Semi autos, in my experience, are A LOT easier to conceal without printing when carried IWB. If you cannot carry IWB or much prefer OWB, make sure the holster you get has a lot of fwd cant or the gun's butt will print way much.

I have settled on OWB pancakes from O'Rourke Leather as my default.

Told you so. [smile]

BTW, good leather takes time. It's just the way it is. I have waited 10 to 12 weeks for a holster, but the end result has been SO well worth it.

Very comfy, Very easily concealed. Just need to keep working on getting a faster draw.

that doesnt irritate you at all? i have been thinking about picking up a 'baby glock' for ankle carry, and im curious about how it will feel. get a lil schweatty in there?

To be honest it really holds its place on my ankle. Since it doesn't move much I don't really get irritated. I haven't been many places where its been really warm yet, so I cant say If its going to get sweaty.

There is a soft fur like pad behind the gun which is extremely soft and comfortable as well.

My primary carry choice is the Smith 1911PD in a UBG IWB holster a CRKT folder, and a Sea Dweller ( I don't dive, but if I fall over-board from a cruise ship, I want to know what time it is when I drown).

When I feel like changing it up a bit, I carry the HK USP Compact in .45 ACP with a SOG folder and a Luminox watch.

Thanks for looking,

Chris

Do you find the USP relatively easy to carry? I hear some complaints about them being too fat, but I've just fallen in love with the USPc every time I've had the fortune of shooting it.

Also, which slide is that? I like the grayish look to it - haven't seen that before.

I do find the USP easy to carry (both IWB and OWB). While it is slightly thicker than a 1911, we're only talking about a fraction of an inch.

The slide is standard non-stainless finish. I think the gray tone is a combo of finish wear and lighting.

[laugh] [laugh] I'm sorry... but that has to be one of the funniest things I've read on NES in a while. [smile] Thanks for that.

note: I have a luminox dive watch... and I don't dive either [wink]

I'm hashing up an old thread, but I saw alot of knife carriers here, so I figured you all could chime in.
When you carry a knife and gun at the same time, do you carry your knife on your support side?
I've always carried my knife on my strong side, but I've never carried a firearm before. When I do begin to carry a pistol, I'm trying to decide if I should try to train my support side to use the knife.
I have a Benchmade mini-grip, so I'd have to switch the clip to the opposite side to operate correctly.
Thoughts and opinions?
Thanks~

I carry my pistol IWB strong side, my knife is an inexpensive Buck folder that I carry in my front pocket, also strong side. I don't expect to use them both at the same time, so I strong side works for me.
