This. The only legit reason I can think of is if the stadium created some unique wind conditions, but that is a huge stretch. I totally agree, all they accomplished was to give potential nut jobs more info than they had before the video was aired. Shooting at a very steep angle takes practice, and maybe they did not have a facility that allowed them to easily replicate the conditions, but WTF are you thinking by airing the video? Foolish.

My first thought was "what are you using for a back stop?" I didn't see a huge steel plate set up. I suppose it is not inconceivable that they were using hand loaded frangible ammo, but I doubt it. Those three rounds would have created a hole as big as Jimmy G's porn star girlfriend.
Maybe they figured that since they told the whole world they would have shooters at the stadium, they would let them know they would be deploying .50's to deter some snackbar from thinking his ceramic plates would be of use.
I think they're using this practice video as a deterrent.
I'm sure the actual snipers will have something more reasonable. And supressed.

Crux Ordnance use to post the stadiums/events they had product in on social media. When some of the parents of the college snowflakes found out the posts stopped. Do they think the snipers left, too?

I assume the field is grass/dirt, or they are good enough not to miss the targets which completely stop the bullet.

Just the idea of these F***HEADS sweeping the crowd is bad enough. How much outrage would there be if the fans know they are going to have a rifle pointed at them?

Lol this isn't new, been done for years (at least in post 9/11 era) and i doubt any of those guns are hot unless someone smells a threat. It's not like it's a secret or something.

There are 4 snipers set up at Penn State, at all the football games, all the time. Cops with long guns walking around all over the place too. I took these the last game I was at.

Someone going to smuggle a freeze dried armored personel carrier into the stadium and add a few drops of water to it and "poof" instant chaos?

You don’t think it’s possible for them to encounter physical security threats on the outside of the stadium? What’s their price for having it on hand? They’re mostly static so it doesn’t matter if they bring it and don’t use it. Better to have and not need.

You couldnt pay me enough to voluntarily subject myself to the bullshit associated with going to a sporting event these days let alone the utter stupidity associated with something like the stupidbowl

That’s a different matter entirely.

Am I the only one who finds it disgusting that there are snipers covering my wife or kids in a football stadium during a game? Have we gone 'round the corner already and readily accept that someone will scope us while we're trying to enjoy an event? I'm sorry. Why don't we just have a cop on every plane facing the seated passengers holding his service weapon at the ready too? Why not at Costco or any place else for that matter? It really disgusts me that this is beng so well advertised as to put out a youtube showing target practice at the stadium. And don't tell me that's just the way it has to be. It's one thing to infiltrate crowds with plain-clothes armed security. Have a spotter up in the top of the stadium, maybe, but to stick an armed sniper up there with, of all things, a 50 cal is simply a societal sickness. I mean, what could go wrong? I will never, ever again go to a sporting event by myself never mind taking my family with me knowing that some yahoo up in the bleacher seats is scoping us with a live-fire high power rifle, period.

...and if SHTF and the adrenaline is pumping.... is the guy manning that .50 looking 5, 10, 20 yards beyond his target? If there is a bad guy in the stands, where can he target the guy without hitting the person's legs/torso behind him, what about immediately in front? Will people be scattered from the guy, or focused on the game? Will sniper have green light to take someone out before they act, or after?

What is bothersome is not police snipers, but the rules they are acting under: Don't worry, the "ooops" defense will work if you screw up, and if that fails, the Nuremberg defense will protect you.

I'm guessing since it's a planned training session the 50's were brought in to get worked. I'd be surprised if they use them during the game. They were probably there all day and Danger Dave said "Can I try some shots with my 50?"

Either that or the PR guy / Command staff that insisted on this media clip being produced and released directed it. "Hey, get a few shots in with the big scary gun with the big bullets". (And probably a few other guys asking him WTF he even brought it with him)

It's an NSSE - these precision marksmen are not likely to be ol' Deputy Jim Bob-Wayne with his trusty old hunting rifle. Dog teams are even brought in from the Coast Guard, per their Facebook page. If you look around some of the social media for the components and agencies that are involved in security for this, they're all bragging it up. That's what makes me think it was NOT the guys behind those rifles that wanted that video out there.

Lol you're delusional if you think it hasn't happened before, American public sucked for (and mostly accepted) this crap after 9/11. Even before that, anytime there was a president or a nominee around, same thing. Reality is though the guys probably aren't "scoping" people unless the spotters see something interesting....

That one sniper with the tat puffed out two breaths in a loud fashion just to show off.
