The Conference Committee has sent official language out - h.4885

If the configuration meets the new definition of an AW considering the new evil feature list then being in the store on 8/1 matters. If not then the 10/23 is the next date that might matter depending on the roster situation.
M1 is on the appendix A list of "good" guns so it is fine

Does the stock on an M1A count as both a “forward grip” and a “barrel shroud”, or just one of them? The wood and metal on an M1A meets the description of both.

If so, there’s no way an M1A isn’t an “assault-style firearm”
176 (g) “Assault-style firearm” shall not include any:
(iv) any of the firearms, or replicas or duplicates of such firearms, specified in appendix A to 18 U.S.C. section 922 as appearing in such appendix on September 13, 1994, as such firearms were manufactured on October 1, 1993;

The Iver Johnson M-1 carbine is an enumerated rifle - therefore all derived models are also exempt.

None. I was focused on the business venue, not a collection of cloth patches.

The cloth patches imply that the business venue is proud to support people who do not support* me.

That's why I would not shop there. We all make choices in life.

*"do not support" is defined as "would beat the shit out of me because they don't support my rights" in case there's any doubt.

This is not true. Male 15-25 year olds are the most based in the country. They listen to Jordan Peterson and Joe Rogan, spend time on Elon Musk’s X (Twitter).

It makes sense, masculinity is being vilified. They don’t have a sense of belonging in today’s mainstream narrative and politics.

The young females who idolize their Karen aunts are realizing they can’t get a date, and are coming around too. The woke and anti-gun movement is squarely females late 20s and older (along with their beta male husbands in captive sexless marriages).

This is true, but leave it to Reuters to spin the meaning of liberal and conservative to fit the progressive narrative.

They also listen to Tate.

All fair and valid. But at end of day. This guy is 3 miles from my house. Willing to get me anything within the 8/1 window and doesn't jack up prices to fu ck the common man. He ordered me a wicked little blaster Monday. I had it in my hands walking out last night just before midnight. Not sure how many other gun shops would have made that happen for me

Young girls are going further to the left and young guys are going further to the right. Look at poll numbers, (even though heavily skewed to be rigged for dems) the 18-25 year old males are loving Trump.

Now does it matter since elections are rigged and Biden/Harris has imported millions of dem
Voters? Probably not…

And both older girls and guys are moving to the left....

I read through GOALs summary on this and I am kinda of confused. I live on the Mass border in Ct and have a Mass non resident LTC. Can I no longer carry a semi automatic hand gun ? I assume I cannot bring my AR into mass anylonger either ? My family has property just over the border and I belong to Holland Rod and Gun.

Just got this email:

Good Afternoon,

As you are aware, on July 25, 2024, Governor Healey signed into law An Act Modernizing Firearms Laws (https://www.mass.gov/doc/h4885-an-a...chaptered-scanned-copy-attached-here/download). Part of this new law has made changes to the Basic Firearms Instructor Certification Program to include but not limited to:

  1. The State Police’s development of a universal written examination to be utilized by all instructors.
  2. All Basic Firearms Safety (BFS) Courses must include the following components:
    1. (A) the safe use, handling and storage of firearms;
    2. (B) methods for securing and childproofing firearms;
    3. (C) the applicable laws relating to the possession, transportation and storage of firearms;
    4. (D) knowledge of operation, potential dangers and basic competency in the ownership and use of firearms;
    5. (E) injury and suicide prevention and harm reduction education;
    6. (F) applicable laws relating to the use of force;
    7. (G) disengagement tactics; and
    8. (H) live firearms training.
  3. Copies of a new BFS student certificate shall now be forwarded to DCJIS.
  4. Any individual in possession of a License to Carry Firearms or Firearms Identification Card prior to August 1, 2024, does not have to re-take a BFS course for renewal purposes.
  5. A Hunter Safety Course will only be a sufficient substitute for a BFS course for FID applications.

This law goes into effect 90 days from the date of signing – or October 23, 2024.

Currently the Department of State Police is working expeditiously with the Municipal Police Training Commission, the Firearms Records Bureau and the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security to develop guidance and regulations to comply with the new requirements in advance of the October 23, 2024 deadline.

Unfortunately, any classes taught after August 1, 2024, that do not adhere to the updated curriculum will not be sufficient for the issuance of an LTC. This will need to be disclosed to potential students.

Over the next few weeks we anticipate more correspondence with you, as an instructor, to provide additional information, survey’s, guidelines for accepting new course curriculum, and any changes to this newly signed law.

This would be a good time to submit any overdue student verification forms.

I appreciate your cooperation and patience as we maneuver together through this new legislation.

Sincerely,

Kristin

Aww, the State Police is complying with unconstitutional "laws".

Lol.

"Currently the Department of State Police is working expeditiously with the Municipal Police Training Commission, the Firearms Records Bureau and the Executive Office of Public Safety and Security to develop guidance and regulations to comply with the new requirements in advance of the October 23, 2024 deadline."

"Expeditiously."

Thanks, Kristin. I'm sure this'll be a seamless rollout. :rolleyes:

Anyone who moves into the state with guns now has no way to get legal until they expeditiously figure out how to make this happen. I hope they're not holding their breath.

Good news is this might make for a phenomenal narrowly scoped case. It has the right quality of urgency to justify emergency rulings to prevent otherwise lawful constitutionally protected actions making you a felon.

I just got the same email 11 minuets ago. So no more classes and no more licenses untill further notice. This is an indefinite hold on anyone applying for LTC after 8/1/2024. No time line on when the new course will be available or how certified instructors will be trained on the new course material.

Idk man, most older guys I know 20s-40s like Trump and thats even in this state. Time will tell.

All my friends love Trump too. But of course they do. I can’t stand being around liberals. So my perception of what the general population thinks is skewed by the fact that I surround myself with a certain type of person.

This is why I keep harping on people migrating here with guns. It's a situation I was in myself, so I'm interested in it, but they are one group that has a CLEAR issue complying with this law: the state has given them no way to be legal. They have a grace period of sixty days to apply; presumably, if the state takes sixty-one days, they are forcing those people to be felons.

That's not sixty-one days to merely develop the curriculum. That includes time to push it out, time for instructors to familiarize themselves, time for the new resident to schedule a class, time for the certificate to be turned around, and time for the new resident to use that certificate in filling out the application. I can't see how a court could refuse to enjoin this, under those circumstances.

Lawsuit! Who's got a kid turning 21 during August, September, or October?

While I don't know if this individual is going to want to step up to the plate and be one of the plaintiffs, I know of least one person who checks quite a few of the boxes.
Previous MA LTC, expired since moving OOS.
Assortment of weapons ranging from fud guns to MA Compliant NFA items to never can set foot in MA NFA items.
Slated to start the "MA Resident" clock again in the next 60 days or so.
Healthy annoyance with the wife who is largely responsible for the MA versus NH destination.

Will be very interested to see if they resolve a pathway to legality for this individual. It's easy for me to urge them to be a plaintiff as a backseat driver, but like the rest of us, they just want to be left alone.

Practically speaking, I'm sure the state would be wiser than to bring charges against a defendant like that. But that's easy for me to say.

This should be a slam dunk for an injunction.

People in MA dont know what reality is like outside of the state.

Here at my bjj school the school itself made FJB and MAGA rashgaurds that sold really well and the people in them were 20-35 year old males.

The pesky bored, white and well off suburban mom is statistically the problem.

Is that a requirement for bringing suit? Is not the threat of becoming a felon the injury? This is where I fall short in the nitty gritty of procedural justice.
