What did you do in the reloading room recently?

Giraud trimmer showed up today. Set it just how I wanted it and didn’t feel like trimming.
I’ll take it out to the shop tomorrow and set it up on the drill press instead of the corded drill.

Then the trimming marathon begins.
Where can I drop off my brass ??

I had to look up what the Giraud trimmer was all about. I use the "World's Finest Trimmer" from Little Crow Gun works and it chucks up to a drill. I used it recently for 300BO and it made life so much easier. I had to pay attention to how much pressure I placed on the drill and brass to avoid having a slight burr on the outside.

Oh man.... the Giraud trimmer does the inside AND outside chamfer...... Well here goes more money.... F.... lol

Thinking about remaking this to thread onto a Giraud cutter head.
Anyone know which bearing the tri-way uses?
Could just swap out the included bearing for one without the case insert and then 3d print inserts for each caliber.

Yeah it’s a no brainer for the money. WFT looks like a nice tool but for the extra $30 the Giraud is a one step tool.

I’ll send you a pic

Formed some 6.5x53r brass out of 303 Brit for the Portuguese Mannlicher I picked up last month. I thought I took a picture of the loaded round but apparently I didn't.

I also loaded up some 8x56r for my M95/30 which I took out to the range this past weekend.

The 8x56r could really benefit from some Ackley Improving

loaded up some 9mm HPs today... single stage Hornday LnL.... no hurry for me.. just enjoying the peace,.. UNTIL..

Priming. First tried the auto primer feed... you know, that tube thing attached to the press... thing started throwing 2 primers at a time, or none at all... until all the primers slid out onto the floor... only lost 2.. tried again.. then somehow, I got a primer stuck in the tube.. must've been a smidge misshapen... Tried to push it out, no luck.. had to go to the garage, use some 3" finish nails to bang it out.. it eventually went off, and I still couldn't get it out.. so tube is now unusable..

So, no choice now but to go to the hand held.. not sure what was going on with this thing, but is also was letting 2-3 primers onto the pin at a time.. It was so that I had to release the handle just enough to let one slide from the tray onto the pin.. if I let up too much, 2 would slide on.

there has got to be an easier way.

Emailed Hornady... sending new tube at no cost... EXCELLENT customer service. although I'm still not sure this is the way to go...

So while loading today I had a charge bridge in the powder throw. First time this as happened and good thing I visually check after ever throw because I notices that one case was only half full.

While thinking of a way to make it easier to see down in the powder funnel I had an epiphany. Rigged up a little mirror so I can easily just look into mirror to verify no powder is stuck in the funnel. 8460EBC3-D70D-44B7-90EE-64BA0C489912.jpeg 0E4A281F-FD27-42FB-BB33-FA481B052E9C.jpeg

FedEx is supposed to show up today. If they do, I'll load some 7.62x39 to see if the AK is accurate enough to hunt with. I'm not optimistic.

No FedEx delivery and they took away the delivery date. I've been through this before. They suck but so do UPS and the post office. Too bad the Pony Express went out of business.

Just got an email from FedEx. It's re scheduled for tomorrow. Apparently, it's in Connecticut.

FedEx brought the stuff this afternoon. I used Nosler and Hornady bullets and 1680 powder.

Eh 4064 is pretty chunky, it happens. The powder funnel hole is not all the “big”
Just a remi

eh , should be minute of deer.
Way back laupua had “match” x39 it did surprisingly well out of my mak 90 and SKS
I reloaded x39 for a spell whem I had a mini mauser from remington imported from russia , it was ok but nothing to keep my attention.

Finally built a new bench area. 3/4" ply top, lagged to the wall. I want to put a shelf where the poster is now or maybe some pegboard.. shelf would probably be more useful.

Sure beats the old setups.

Came close to hurting myself! Using my turret rcbs......finished making a cartridge and go to take it out of the shell holder and it won't come out. Shit. Ok so I take it out shell holder and all. Turn it upside down and see the issue......primer got jammed in sideways. So.....I grab a cleaning pick and start to dig it out and said "ho Lee f***"........that's a loaded cartridge I'm poking at the primer of! I was using the powder thru expanding die so it is charged! Stopped righ then and set it aside and grabbed a spare shell holder to keep loading. Not even a week ago I had a primer go in sideways and used that pick to dig it out.....and set the primer off in the process! That one had only been resized and primed wasn't run complete through the process like this one was tonight!

Now....

1. Anyone else had this happen?
2. How'd you get it out?
3. Be careful at the press gentlemen!

Soak it in water and pick it out.

Or.

screw a deck screw into the wad cutter.

Place the shell holder in your press. Remove any dies.
Raise the ram. Grab the deck screw with a pair of pliers.
Lower the ram.

Should pull that wad cutter out and then you can deal with the rest.
